Here's my take:
1. Vince Carter: No 6-6 guy has ever jumped higher or been more fearless above the rim. 360's were a walk in the park. Jumping over the 7-2 Frenchman will never be repeated. Carter is the best dunker ever - by a long shot.

2. Dominique Wilkins: I know I'll get some flak for putting him over Jordan. Wilkins was a one-diminensial offensive force, but boy could he get up and rattle the rim. He always delivered a good performance in Dunk Contests too.

3. Michael Jordan: Early in his career, Jordan could seemingly take off from anywhere and throw down on bigger men. Also, more than anyone else, his huge hands allowed him to wave the ball all over the place with one hand, which added to his dunking flair.

4. Dr. Julius Erving: The Godfather of the high-flying perimeter player. Erving was long and smooth and slithered to the hoop with a grace never replicated.

5. Kobe Bryant: The obvious heir to Dr. J. Kobe has the same fluidity. Less power, more ease.

By the way, some others who come to mind are Larry Nance, Shawn Kemp, Darryl Dawkins, Harold Minor, Tracy McGrady and a young Clyde Drexler

I'm surprised by how many people don't say that Vince Carter is the greatest dunker ever!?!?
Isn't it obvious that Carter is the greatest dunker? I'm scratching my head.

people dont put Carter as the best dunker because he isnt retired yet. Alot of people have that "back in the day when everything was better" mentality. Id agree Vince is the best and Id agree that Nique is second. In fact Id agree with your whole list accept Kobe. my number 5 would be Clyde. He seemed to float through the air. People underrate Barkely as a dunker too because he was more known for rebounding, but watch him in his prime and he can dunk with the best of them. Yall watch out for Josh Smith too, i think after a few years he will be up on the list.

I'm pretty sure those were the 5 judges in this past all star game. But you've got it right those are for sure the five best i would only change one of those rankings Vince carter number two. if it wasn't for dominique vince would have never even tried the some of the dunks he tried hell some of vince's dunk's where just better attempt of already preformed dunks.
