I see these commercials on ESPN and FOX showing fans whose teams did not make it to the playoffs. If your team didn't make it, tell me the name of your favorite team, the name of the team you are rooting for in the playoffs, and why...

In a subway series, between the NY Mets and the NY Yankees...

Mariano Rivera vs. Billy Wagner in the closing innings of the WS, would Wagner be a formidable challenge to Rivera or is the Yankee closer too overpowering for Wagner ?

If the Tigers do win the 2006 World Series, Detroit have a second championship after the Detroit Shock won the 2006 WNBA Championshp this year.

The first team to win three consecutive World Series was the New York Yankees from 1936 to 1938 and the Oakland Athletics won the World Series three consecutive times in a row from 1972 to 1974 and I was wondering which American League Baseball Team will be the first team to win the consectuve World Series in a row.

Last year the white sox and astros were in the series. The braves were in the playoffs but not this year. Do you think that the teams in the post season will be similar to the teams this year? Will the yankees and the mets stay really good? What do you think?

I don't have a great answer for this, but my favorite is David Weathers (journeyman middle reliever, currently with the Reds) because he and I went to high school together. I'm originally from a town of 1,800 people, so needless to say, we haven't produced a lot of people who have World Series rings. He's nice, modest, and still lives in that same town we grew up in. He just happens to have the biggest house now.

My favorite current day players are:

Greg Maddux- So methodical, and studies the hitters sooooo much.

Vernon Wells- Has stated in several interviews that he loves signing autographs (and I sent him a baseball card 2 years ago, and he signed it and sent it back to me within 3 weeks)

Shawn Green- Unafraid to share his faith, and really tries to live in a way pleasing to God.

Craig Biggio- He'll play wherever you tell him to, and he has NEVER complained.

My all-time faves are:

Darrell Evans- My family are all Braves fans, and Evans was one of Dad's favorites.

Eddie Mathews- Same as Darrell Evans.

Willie McGee- One of the first "big name" players I ever met (when he was still playing in the minors in Nashville)

Don Mattingly- Same as McGee.

I always enjoy thinking back on these great players, and how much I looked up to them as a kid.

For example, in 1990 or 1991 the regular topps baseball cards had a multi-colored border... this series had a neon multi-colored border... and had players who were just signed or about to start playing for major league teams.
