Good job on the research. As far as I'm concerned, Rice, Gossage, Dawson,Blyeven, Smith, Trammell, Parker, Mattingly belonged in the Hall Of Fame a long time ago. The rest, including Jack Morris, John, Garvey, and Hershiser were very good but not worthy of the Hall. Actually names like Gooden, Wetteland, Jefferies, and Hal Morris among others are an insult to the game for even being considered. Baseball needs to restructure the voting because as it stands right now, it doesn't work!

There are two players that were head and shoulders above their peers, Bruce Sutter and Rich "Goose" Gossage. Both deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.

There are a few others that are close based on their career statistics; Andre Dawson, Bert Blyleven, Lee Smith, Tommy John and Jack Morris. They are about equal to others that are currently in the HOF, especially John, Morris and Blyleven.
Only Morris was ever considered the best in the league even for a short time.

There are a few that looked to be sure Hall of Famers early in their careers. Dave Parker and Dwight Gooden got involved with drugs. Albert Belle had other issues and later a career ending injury. I would bet that Belle would be in just like Kirby Puckett if he did not have such a bad disposition in public.

Jim Rice was the most dangerous hitter in the American League for many years, but had a reputation as a butcher in the outfield and spent most of his time as the DH.

Paul Bearer makes the most sense at the moment. Which probably means Undertaker as well. I doubt they will put anyone else in that's still a huge name today, so HHH will have to wait a while. I agree with you about Rikishi, Todd Pettengill and Rick Rude, but I don't think Vader will get in there anytime soon. Miss Elizabeth and should be in there if they ever put Savage in, so will Kane, eventually. Owen should have been put in there years ago, but his wife won't allow it, and Ultimate Warrior is a pain in the @r$e to listen to, so I don't care about him either way. I also don't think Benoit will ever make it in, because of what he did. The only others I can think of at the moment are The New Age Outlaws, because they were brilliant at the time. :)

Interesting to note that in a ballot in which only one person- a closer- was inducted, Lee Smith was not chosen despite being the all-time saves leader at the time. (Can't recall if Trevor Hoffman has passed him yet or is still on the verge.) I am a lifelong Cardinals fan and of course Sutter is near and dear to my heart but it is a curious outcome.

How about Dawson, Rice and Parker

No, none of those guys are good enough. Sutter only got in because it was a weak field last year.
