I have to ask, whats the big deal about Dale Earnhardt jr.? What good has he done? Please give me a few FACTS as to why he is a good racer. Despite being the son of one of the best racers ever, what good has he done? Shouldn't he have to do more than just be born? If his last name wasn't Earnhardt, would he still be popular? When has he ever had a really good season? Why was his dad able to win with the same team while he can't? Why would Teresa Earnhardt give control of her company to someone with just average stats? Why is just an average racer the most popular? I think when someone is popular in a sport because of their name and not because of what they do on the track, it shows a total lack of respect for the sport. Dale jr. is not Dale sr and will never be in the same league. Next year with Hendrix, when he can't make excuses, it will be interesting to see how many fans he still has when he is still just average.

A nascar driver can never be considered the greatest driver in the world because they posess such a limited range of skills. Fair enough driving an oval may not be easy but it is still only turning leftat high speed.

There are no really technical coners with multiple apexs, no slow corners, no blind corners, no corners with elevation changes, no lightning fast corners WITHOUT banking and most importantly no rain. I agree that there is a talent to NASCAR but they are not in the same league as Road Racers and in particular F1 drivers and rally drivers.

They dont have the same amount of skills therefore cannot be called the greatest drivers of all time. Maybe the greatest oval drivers...

He's so old.

Rusty Wallace told ESPN on Monday that he turned down an offer to drive for Richard Childress Racing next year. "I'm retired and am a broadcaster now," the ESPN motorsports analyst said. Foxsports.com reported Monday that Wallace "still has the bug" and that Richard Childress Racing was interested in hiring him to drive for the team in 2008. "Rusty Wallace is not an option for our fourth Cup team. He is not on our list," Richard Childress told ESPN on Monday. "There was never anything that went anywhere with trying to do anything with him. We never went down that road." Wallace, who retired from racing in 2005, joined ESPN as a racing analyst in 2006. He won 55 Cup races in his 22-year career and was the Cup series champion in 1989.

are you all suprised with Kyle and his temper? He was upset coming in having a DNF at Watkins Glen. Do you think he went a little over board? He is questionable for this Sunday at Michigan.

fo me it's: 1. Daytona 500 (Harvick wins, Clint Bowyer crosses finishline upside down), 2. Indianapolis (Tony gets his first win of the season) 3. Watkins Glen (a lot of bumping and banging, Juan and Harvicks little fight)

You are 8th in points and driving the #5 for HMS and are one of the best young drivers in NASCAR. He dumps you for Jr and puts him in your car next year. You sign a contract with JGR and you are excited to be driving on the same team with the best driver in NASCAR next year. You say you are committed to finishing the year strong and chasing the championship. But would you do your best for a team that dumped you? Which set of teammates would you look out for the rest of the year?

Where he is answering fan mail. I don't think he is much of a driver but you have to like his sense of humor.
"No, I don't have the parking brake set" and "No, I am not saving my tires during qualifying" and "As far as I know, my head has always been right here on top of my shoulders"
Funny thing is, they probably used actual letters sent to him by fans who are upset about his disappointing season.
