It will be hard to watch Jr. not driving the 8 car. That number means so much to him. His Grandfather drove that car and for him not to be in that must be hard for him also. (everyone hear this, he will not drive the 3 car.) I am a HUGE fan of Earnhardt and I already knew i was buying new items with his new sponsor but now a new number also. I wish DEI would have gotten whatever is up with them and give it up. DEI is going to be hated more by Jr supporters than Gordon is right now. next year he is going to a way better team and we'll just have to wait and see what number he gets. I do like the idea of 38 or maybe 08. All I can say is GO JR.

I do love the 8 but I am a die-hard Earnhardt fan and willlove him no matter what his number is.
I will remember May of 1999 when Jr first raced the 8 at Charlotte and the day he won the Daytona 500 in 2004. With 277 starts, 17 wins, 73 top 5's and 117 top tens I am looking forward to all of these numbers getting better and better.
Love to all NASCAR fans!!!!!!
With a better team owner and less pressure as a driver I am looking forward to watching Jr enjoy the benefits of driving and thriving.

I'm glad #8 is staying where it belongs, at DEI. Junior chose to jump ship, now he's struggling to find a sponsor and a number, while the guy he's replacing already knows his number and sponsor for next year. Keep the "8" in the Earnhardt family where it belongs, let Junior take over Kyle's #5. It won't see victory lane for a long time after Kyle leaves it.
Kyle rocks!

The whole scenario reminds me of that silly commercial where Jr. was holding a "press conference" to tell fans he was dumping the #8 and suddenly fans were chopping down their hedges and getting their tatoos "done over". It made me laugh that such an impossible thing could ever happen.
But evidently the impossible is possible.
I never really thought that DEI would let him take the 8. But I sure as heck thought that Budweiser would stick with him.
Again, guess not.

It just goes to show how greedy Teresa Earnhardt really is. But I was originally under the impression that the numbers were owned by NASCAR.
Also without Budweiser as his major sponsor, this opens a proverbial Pandora's Box as to who Jr. will have on his car and what number he will sport on his car.
Now as to the number 81, I don't see that happening. However maybe 08 would be more acceptible by the Earnhardt Nation.
I'm pulling for Jr. no matter what the car or the number.

purely a style. And the followers care an excellent purchase extra approximately it than Jr does. everybody says "Oh, it become his grandfathers style." Yeah, nicely, an excellent purchase extra human beings drove that style too. Jr suggested if he would not get the 8, he'd desire to stress the 80 one.

That win number is going to be stuck on 17 for a long time, no matter what team he's driving for. There are a number of better drivers than him in cup right now, including every driver on his new team.

I am glad it is over and now maybe all of nascar fans can move on it life.
I can't believe so much attention was given to such a dumb thing like the number of a car.
I have been a nascar fan for over 20 years and have seen lots of greats trade teams and start there own. I can never remember when any death's or tragedy or a number.
Funny thing is that Jr. Fans think Gordon is a whiner. Ha Ha
Gordon Rules.
