because i no that Hendrick hasnt found a number for him yet but I was just wondering what number you guys think he should have next year?

I doubt the wicked ole stepmom teresa will free the 8, its Dale Jr's number to have its in the family it was Ralphs his grandfathers number... Somehow the number 5 just doesn't fit him..but the 81 will be okay, he ran that number in busch races.. Teresa please please free the 8..

He could run the 8, but it would require a few things. First, DEI would have to relinquish their "right" to the number (NASCAR owns all the numbers) and then NASCAR would have to grant the use rights to Hendrick. Also, Hendrick would have to give up either the 5 or the 25 number (likely the 25). And remember, the 8 usn't going to be the Bud car next year if Hendrick has it. I rather expect Junior to run the 5; it would be real strange to see him in the 8 without
"Budweiser" on the hood.

I hope so, I would prefer that he get the 8, but if that doesn't happen, then definitely the 5 over the 25. Single digit numbers just look better to me on the cars. Besides, to the guy worried about having to get a laser removal, if Jr. drives the 5, you'll only have to get the top right and bottom left burnt off - could save you some money.

With the latest departure of Kyle Busch from the Hendrick team and from what i have heard Casey Mears would move from the 25 car to the 5 car and Dale Jr. would take over the 25 car. I think he should still have the 8 car but i dont see Teresa relinquishing the number.

I am going to guess that he will be in the 81 car next year. It is a # that he has run before and I think we are all sure that the wicked step mother of the south will not give up the #8 very easily.

Jr. will not have the #8, but for those who have an 8 tatoo, and 8 in the number would be easier. HMS does have the #5, but we just have to wait and see. It doesn't matter to me, Jr. is Jr., no matter what number he has or what team he drives for.

well i hope he does keep the 8 but it dont look good for him to have it thanks to his wicked step-mother.if he cant have the 8 then he should get the 5.but he might not want that cause that was his dads number so anything with a 8 in the number is fine with me.the number dont mean much its the experience that dale jr has that counts.

I don't think he is going to keep the 8, DEI have rights over it. But 81 is a good alternative and for those with the tattoo just add the one!!!

Yeah he'll either have the same number next year as Kyle Bush or Mears does this year.

Only time will tell. No matter what number car that Dale Jr. drives, he will still be Dale Earnhardt Jr. Good Luck Dale!
