Ever been in an assembly and asked someone to lead us in prayer, and no one wants to do it? I am not suggesting that we do away with our humility and say, Oh let me, let me say the prayer! But when asked to pray, why not do it?

I've always been sort of intrigued and mystified by this stuff. Is it real? Is it against my religion? I'm a very curious person, but I don't wanna get involved in it if I will go to hell for it. I know what is says in the Bible about idols. If its okay to dabble in it where can I find out more about it? Seriously though, any witches or wiccans out there for some advice.

Thou shalt not murder and steal is sensible enough, but is working on the sabbath really going to have any significant consequences other than missing football?

Come to think of it, isn't everyone who is working at the stadium breaking the fourth commandment?

Please list your religion and whether or not you believe that people can be possessed by demons. Does this still happen today, and does it happen in your society?

People of all religions are encouraged to answer.

If there was an afterlife, and if there wasn't a judgement based on merit in that afterlife, would any of you feel short-changed because everyone got through on an even level? Or would you be happy that people escaped condemnation?

I can only talk from speculation, but if I were in a position where I sacrificed, toiled, and put my rewards in heaven, I think I'd be a little annoyed if I got there and everybody had the same rewards.

...no matter what wrongs you do in life that it's okay so long as you ask for forgiveness would that allow you to do more things wrong? Would it be a free pass so long as you say you're sorry?

before I went all the way and gave up god i read some books written by catholic saints and such as I was raised a protestant and we weren't allowed to read them. Anyways in all the books I have read the saints always refer to themselves as christians belonging to the catholic (universal) church, they never call themselves catholics... so why have catholics choosen to stick with the name catholics? I get that you don't want to be associated with protestants and other fundies (eww) but honestly why do you guys let them steal your title and make it their own? Not only that some even say the title isn't for you...

If I built a robot that had a choice, it could do good things, or bad things (free will), and if that robot did bad things whom to blame for it; me for building it or the robot for doing it. Same for god (if god does exist), god created humans and some humans can do bad things (and humans has done bad things), whom to blame for that; god or humans?
Although this relies on that god does exist, and I or someone else could build a robot that does that.

Why or why not?

Symbolic vs literal is the answer every Christian sect gives for the many contradictions in the Bible, which is precisely why there are so many Christian sects. Each sect interprets the Bible their own way. Some take statements to be literal while others take the same as symbolic. Who makes THAT determination?

But, have you ever considered that the reason for the contradictions is that since the Bible is so large and written by more than one person, it is hard to keep up with the fantasy. Haven't you noticed how a liar has to continue to lie because he forgets the lies he have told?

i know physics is a kind of sacred language [in a way,] but how much latin, greek, hebrew, arabic or sanskrit has he studied? If zero, then how can he hope to dismiss sacred texts out of hand without studying them? Wouldln't that be the same as saying evolution is untrue without having read a science textbook?

I put my faith and trust in God and went to Him with a sincere, honest and repentant heart - I really felt that He provided me with 100% assurance of a conviction of my faith.

But while studying to get my PhD in Comparative Religions, I found Jesus missing and the Bible to be wrong! I found Bible Archaeology to be a hoax:

http://www.tentmaker.org/WAR/

And the Historicity of Jesus:
http://www.truthbeknown.com/origins.htm

And the origins of scripture:
http://www.skepticfiles.org/american/godtheor.htm

I'm afraid that I was a genuine, born-again Holy Spirit-filled Christian, and came to the realization that what I sincerely believed with all my heart was just plain wrong.

I therefore had to change my belief. To not do so, would be living a delusion, don't you agree?
