I agree that the world isn't perfect, a lot of horrible things happen and I'm realistic about that. But overall I'm an optimist and I tend to focus on the good parts of life. But I see all these fundamentalist Christians talking about doom and gloom, and things are so much worse than they were, the endtimes are near-and the funny thing is when you tell them the world's not so bad, they don't want to listen.

Do you see God in what you do day to day? Or if you do not believe in God, do you see the good in what you do? Do you ever wonder why you bother doing something that has no beneift to mankind? The question is nonspecific and can have a broad range for responses.

If we can get the middle americans below the poverty line where they belong then we, the elite, can take our rightful place above the commoners and put an end to their foolish religious practices once and for all!

I am Wiccan...I would be interested in hearing INTELLIGENT comments about your religion as well as my own. We are all people trying to make our way through the cycle of life...no need to bash someone just for their personal beliefs. Be nice! You don't have to agree...just be civil.

This is weird and I am not sure that this is the correct category to ask this question but here goes.......ok, I am 27yrs old, married with 2 children and my mother was murdured 23yrs ago. The man that killed her was never caught but I have been working with a PI to locate the man........so I have been working on this. Even though I didn't know my mother her death has affected me greatly and I think of her everyday, especially now that I have a daughter...I was just wondering what you thought about this....my son is 2 and i tell him that he has 3 grandmas, my mom, my mil and my step-mom and i have showed him pics of my mom, well sometimes out of the blue he will say grandma marta is working...and unfortunatly her boyfriend murdered her at her work....well then yesterday it was my daughters first birthday and before bed i thought of my mom and told her that i hoped she watched over her only grandkids and that today was her grand daughters birthday and that is she was here with us

We live in a hostile world, wether it's people or the enviroment

As people we deal with many hurts, pain and troubles, we also look for love, friendship and comfort..Most human beings can provide some of what we seek, in life but in the BIG PICTURE
human comfort only provides 50% of what we need.

Since people that believe in GOD find 100% comfort in everything they need. As GOD says he will not prevent trouble from happening in this diseased world, but he does PROMISE he will get you through any trouble that comes your way...

So do Atheists have no need for a comfort that is 100%? are they just content with 50% or less?

How can you tell me there is no god when I gave you one example( people return to dust from which they came in which god says in Genesis 3:19 "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return." This passage was written years ago and still holds true today. I want to know your proof on how God does not exist DO NOT GIVE ME YOUR FEELINGS ON IT, GIVE me PROOF that he does not exist. ONE more thing, I have another proof if God words were not true and did'nt have value because he's not "real", then how come women all over the world have bitrth pains? It states in the bible Genesis 3:16 "To the woman he said, "I will increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children." Heres another proof for me why god is real, SHOW me yours.

Everyone has had family or friends who have passed away, and it's quite natural to wonder what happened to them when death occurred. Where are they now? Are they somehow still conscious? Are they alive and dead at the same time?
The example of Jesus Christ clearly answers the question. The Son of God (see The Logos) was born as a normal physical human (Hebrews 2:14-18). After He was brutally killed (see How Did Jesus Christ Die?), His body was placed in the tomb (see The Garden Tomb) where He remained dead until He was resurrected to life. His resurrection would not have been necessary if He had been alive while He was dead.

What does The Bible actually say about what happens when humans die, and more importantly, what does The Word of God say about how and when they stop being dead?

A Peaceful Sleep, No Sense Of The Passage Of Time

"For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing" (Ecclesiastes 9:5 RSV)

"For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts; for all is vanity. All go to one place; all are from the dust, and all turn to dust again." (Ecclesiastes 3:19-20 RSV)

"Brethren, I may say to you confidently of the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.... For David did not ascend into the heavens" (Acts 2:29,34 RSV)

"No one has ascended into heaven but He who descended from heaven, the Son of man." (John 3:13 RSV)
A Later Resurrection

"But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at His coming those who belong to Christ." (1 Corinthians 15:20-23 RSV) (see The Return Of Jesus Christ)

"Thy dead shall live, their bodies shall rise. O dwellers in the dust, awake and sing for joy!" (Isaiah 26:19 RSV)

"But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel's call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet The Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with The Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 RSV)

"Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom judgment was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and for the word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life, and reigned with Christ a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and they shall reign with him a thousand years." (Revelation 20:4-6 RSV)

"for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear His voice and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment." (John 5:28-29 RSV)

"And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt." (Daniel 12:2 RSV)

"Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it; from His presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead in them, and all were judged by what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire; and if any one's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:11-15 RSV)

How do prehistoric beasts figure into the whole creationism side of the creation v. evolution argument. Some people take the Adam and Eve story quite literally, but I want to know where things such as dinosaurs fit into the whole scheme of things. Were humans created as an afterthought, since we are one of the youngest species on the planet? This is not an attack, I just am interested to see what people think of this.

Authority?

"It is possible, then, for everyone in every church, who may wish to know the truth, to contemplate the tradition of the apostles which has been made known throughout the whole world. And we are in a position to enumerate those who were instituted bishops by the apostles and their successors to our own times—men who neither knew nor taught anything like these heretics rave about.

"But since it would be too long to enumerate in such a volume as this the successions of all the churches, we shall confound all those who, in whatever manner, whether through self-satisfaction or vainglory, or through blindness and wicked opinion, assemble other than where it is proper, by pointing out here the successions of the bishops of the greatest and most ancient church known to all, founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles, Peter and Paul, that church which has the tradition and the faith which comes down to us after having been announced to men by the apostles.
