If God created the Devil and the Devil is bad....does that mean that God made a mistake or that God advocates Evil. God created angels and they are 'good' but why when God created the Devil he is considered 'evil'?

Atheists typically point to religion as the cause of wars. For example, Dawkins does in “The God Delusion.” The believer’s blind faith is said to drive them to kill because he is hoping to please God by promoting His cause. However, they neglect to mention the killing done to promote Atheism such as the Cultural Revolution in China. Christians daily are slaughtered there by Atheists to promote Atheism. Do the moral atrocities in China invalidate the claim that a populous informed by Atheism would be less likely to commit ideology driven crimes against humanity and wars?

The God of the Old Testament has got to be the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous, and proud of it, petty, vindictive, unjust, unforgiving, racist. -- Richard Dawkins

It would stand to reason that there MUST be something more to the Christian faith than doing it out of fear, but I've not seen much of it. I was raised Christian, I've read the Bible, but as I grew older, I could not resolve the inconsistencies I saw either in believers or in the bible itself. Since then, I've read the Qu'ran the Bhagavad Gita, the Vedas, the Elder Edda, bits of the Torah, some Buddhist texts, and even some fluffy new-ager stuff (pretty funny, that). Often, I've been presented with the statement, "you better be a Christian, or you'll go to hell. You don't want to go to hell, do you?" It should be clear to these so-called Christians that there could be so much more to their religion. Why just stick with fear?

I know one man who is so God-like and wouldn't have a clue how great he is. I can see how people would easily write about him, agree with his pacifist, loving, accepting, caring views and remember him, tell everyone about him. Maybe about 2000 yrs ago, people would have decided he was God. What makes that huge difference?

Adn yeah, it's even tempting to make up miracles about this guy.

Matthew 5:19
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Many will say the Sabbath Day.

The only Commandment that Has Remember to start it, stuck in the middle of the 10, and is the Longest.

Many teach this to break it. Its the 7th day of the week. Some will say, Its Sunday, but thats the 1st Day. Still teaching to Break the 7th day and Keep a New Day. Bible never said to switch days.

I'm serious, because anytime I hear the comment, "They're not a true Christian," I'm left buffaloed.

Does anyone have a fool-proof way to tell a fake Christian from a real one?

Guys, come on. You've got to be kidding.

If you could picture Jesus doing the things that Hitler did, you've got to be insane. Seriously.

Just because Hitler called himself a Christian (if he even DID) doesn't make him a Christian.

Hitler burned Bibles. He destroyed Churches and Synagogues. He changed the way people got married! He denounced pastors and put the SS in their place.

A Christian is called to be like Jesus.

If you think Hitler's actions were similar to Jesus' in anyway, you're dead wrong.

That is common sense.

Islam has been the faster growing faith in contemporary history. Historically before it could reach Madina (city of Saudi Arabia ), it already traveled into the heart of Africa . It attracted followers from Persia , Rome , Ethiopia and Mesopotamia with varying ethnic origins, diverse languages and different socio-cultural backgrounds. The community inter-acted together in a way that not withstanding all diversities it becomes one composite whole.

This transformation of feelings, understanding and responses is a unique Islamic contribution. Once they joined the community of Islam they left for once and for all their cultural, ethnic or linguistic biases. Islam emerged as the single unifying force which cemented together their hearts and minds. This movement of Islam has continued for past 15 centuries and attracted people from so many backgrounds to join hands against all kinds of evils, and for propagation and realization of the ultimate truth.

Please consider your own situation before answering. If you are apart of the high and mighty club don't answer. If you are apart of the feel good crowd please don't answer. If you feel you are really living out a faith that is very close to what Jesus described when he said," Come to me, all you who are. weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I. am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls." I am tired of feeling like Christianity is about jumping through hoops.
I really don't feel like reading my Bible but will do it if it is something I need to do. I do pray everyday, read my bible most days, read Christian liturature, serve in my church but I suppose I could volunteer more, be more loving to those around me... etc... I would like to see someone point me toward a loving God and not just tell me a list of all the hoops I have already jumped through plenty of times.

I don't have enough space to develop this question fully to say all I need to say, however...
Exodus 12 talks about the Passover Lamb. Please read it if you don't know the story.
The Lamb must be male without blemish, it's blood must be put on the doorposts of the house in order to escape the plague of death. One must also eat the lamb.

John 1:36 "And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God!”" Christ was crucified and his blood was shed that we might not experience eternal death. If we have the blood of Christ on the doorposts of our heart we will be saved.
John 6:54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

Christ was crucified on the Jewish Passover. How did that happen? Would you say it was just a coincidence?
After the Passover God lead Israel out of Egypt to the promised land. After Christ was crucified He leads his people to the promised land.. heaven.

What is the Purpose of Life?
So what does the Creator, Allah, tell us about our purpose in life? Allah states in the Quran that He created man to be His Khalefah, His trustee on earth (Quran 2:30). Mankind’s basic trust, our responsibility, is to believe in and worship Allah:

And I did not create the Jinn and mankind except to worship Me… (Quran, 51:56-58)

Very simple! The purpose for man’s creation is to worship the Creator. The essence of Allah’s message through all of the prophets also was: O mankind, worship Allah, you have no deity other than Him. (Quran, 7:59,65,73,85; Also 11:50,61,84; and 23:23,32). Allah further states that He made this life in order to test man so that every person may be recompensed after death for what he has earned:

[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving. (Quran, 67:2)

But in order to worship Him, we have to know Him well otherwise we may form a distorted concept of Him and then go astray. In the Quran Allah tells mankind what He is and what He is not. For example, in response to a question about Allah that was posed to the Prophet Muhammad , Allah instructs Muhammad to give the following reply:

Say (O Muhammad): He is Allah [Who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent. (Quran, 112)

It is clear from this that Muhammad is not the author of the Quran otherwise he would not have shown that someone is dictating to him what to say.

Also, Allah has to tell us how He wants to be worshipped, which He does in the Quran. He also tells us in the Quran that all Prophets came with the same identical message to their people - that is to believe in Allah and to worship Him. He also tells us in the Quran that all the people of other religions have deviated from the original teachings of their prophets. This is due to two reasons. The first is that earlier scriptures were not preserved simply because of the absence or scarcity of writing paper and so the teachings were transmitted orally and with time became distorted. The second reason is because the clergy of various religions introduced doctrines that were never there (e.g., the Christian trinity creed was introduced only after the council of Nicea in 325 AD and the Council of Constantinople in 386 AD). Because of the changes that crept into earlier religions, Allah tells us that He sent the Prophet Muhammad as the last and final prophet and guidance to mankind with a scripture that He promised would be preserved forever. Allah provides a test to prove that the Quran is from Him. Allah says:

Then do they not reflect upon the Quran? (i.e. its meanings and its objective) If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction. (Quran, 4:82)

The Quran is available for scrutiny and investigation by any person to try to find even one error or contradiction in it. In fact this test must be applied to any other scripture that claims it is the word of God.
