Islam has been the faster growing faith in contemporary history. Historically before it could reach Madina (city of Saudi Arabia ), it already traveled into the heart of Africa . It attracted followers from Persia , Rome , Ethiopia and Mesopotamia with varying ethnic origins, diverse languages and different socio-cultural backgrounds. The community inter-acted together in a way that not withstanding all diversities it becomes one composite whole.

This transformation of feelings, understanding and responses is a unique Islamic contribution. Once they joined the community of Islam they left for once and for all their cultural, ethnic or linguistic biases. Islam emerged as the single unifying force which cemented together their hearts and minds. This movement of Islam has continued for past 15 centuries and attracted people from so many backgrounds to join hands against all kinds of evils, and for propagation and realization of the ultimate truth.

It is because people are finally realizing that Islam is not the bad religion the media portrays it as. They become curious and research Islam, and many are convinced that it is the truth and t iis very logical. (Then there are others who misinterpret the Qur'an and bash something they really know nothing about.)

To SIMPLY: If Muslims don't believe in birth control, why is it readily available in Muslim countries? I can get my pills at the local pharmacy here for about $2.50. The same pills are $40 in the US. If Muslims were against birth control, it would not be so easy to buy, and at such a cheap price. Also, many small shops here carry condoms.

I think fear is the main reason why people are religious in the first place. Sept. 11 caused more fear for the whole world, not just America. The world realized that even one of the worlds greatest nations can be devastated. Also I think that people are religious because It's good to know that you'll go to heaven when you die instead of the unknown and it's good to know that all the people you hate will go to hell.

Depends on who is counting, and what method that they use. It appears that Christianity is the fastest growing religion on Earth, especially in non-western countries, not Islam.

Islam in Fast Demise
In Africa Alone Everyday, 16,000 Muslims Leave Islam

By Ali Sina

Hitler said if a lie is repeated often enough and long enough, it would come to be perceived as truth. One such lie often repeated is “Islam is the fastest growing religion”.

Despite the fact that Muslims by virtue of being poor and uneducated are much more reproductive than others, Islam as a religion is not growing but dying fast....

----------------------------------------
...Evangelicals are among the fastest-growing segments of Christianity. Their global numbers are increasing at about 4.7 percent a year, according to Operation World, a Christian statistical compendium.

By comparison, the rate of growth for all Protestants is put at 2.2 percent a year, and for Roman Catholics at 0.5 percent a year. The world's population is growing at about 1.4 percent a year.

Broadly defined, evangelicals are Christians who have had a personal or "born-again" religious conversion, believe that the Bible is the word of God, and believe in spreading their faith. (The term comes from Greek; to "evangelize" means to preach the gospel.) The term is typically applied to Protestants....

------------------------------------------------------------
...Most Christian sources predict that Christianity will retain its numerical lead over Islam beyond the year 2025. For example, futurist John Gary stated in 1997: "In no probable statistical scenario reaching out to the year 2200, does Islam surpass Christianity in absolute number of adherents."

Quite frankly that is an assumption. My following expands daily. The ranks of the Tianice grow by hundreds a month. as do all Earth based faiths. The reasons Islamic numbers seem to rise is because they are recorded in a central registry. Our numbers fill fast yet are not recorded in any form. Further, Most of our recent membership are those that seek a path of true peace and a faith where violence is nonexistent. Those who refuse to lie to themselves by entering Mosques Churches or any other Abrahamic temple.
There is in fact an illusion of growth, yet look to those that flee.

Not so true anymore.. at one time Islam was growing very fast mainly because African americans were disilluisoned by the white mans God. And People like Malcom X and Muhammad Ali were muslim and acted as role models for the entire Black population, But now islam is on the wane.

Please stop cut / pasteing worthless islamic propaganda. im not against People that want to worship this way, but seriously just the line of "Once they joined the community of ISlam they left for once and for all their cultural ethnic or linguistic biases" and Islam emerged as a the Single Unifying force" sounds extremely hollow, especially with Sunnis and Shia fighting in Iraq and fighting just keeps breaking out between fatah and hamas in palenstine.. gimme a freekin break

"....to join hands against all kinds of evils,...." Really? Then who are those suicide bombers that are blowing up people all over the world? Buddhist?
Jehovah's Witnesses? Maybe it's Mennonites. Or maybe it's Islamo-fascist but just that it's not evil since it's done in the name of Allah? That must be it because I sure don't see many Muslims "join hands" against it.

Islam is fast growing, and American Idol is the most popular show in America. There is no accounting for taste.

You birth rates are higher because birthrates are always higher in countries where education and the standard of living are low.

P.S....what you call attracting followers could also be known as converting people at sword point. That's exactly how your religion spread through Africa, Indeoneasia, India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

P.P.S .....Why do Islamic nations like Iran need to fund radical Muslim extremists to kill the animaists in nations like the Sudan? The Sudanese genocide is at the door step of Islam....your peaceful and tolerant religion.

Solace in conformity, arranged marriage, polygamy (A major factor), encouragement to have plenty of children, shunning of apostates by Muslim families, strict indoctrination of Muslim children, dogmatism, comfort of the afterlife, subjugation of minorities, and the persecution and capital punishment for apostasy in Islamic countries. Regardless, arguing truth by numbers holds no significance. The question one must ask is can a lot of people be wrong?

The teaching of Mohammad are widely available nowadays. Even some Christians who started to read the Qur'an in order to attack Islam ended up finding that it was the logical continuation of the teachings of Jesus and became muslim. Thanks to the technological progress, we have access to the writings of many religions and therefore decide which one suits us the most, instead of following the Faith in which we found our fathers.
Islam spread mostly through the works of tradesmen and sufi mystics during the Middle Age. In the West, people have access to information that was withheld by the leaders of Christianity during centuries.

If you check the actual numbers you will find this truth much like all that is considered truth in Islam a twisted truth. In actual numbers Chrisitanity is increasing faster in percentage Islam is growing faster...to say Islam is growing faster is misleading but that is not unusual for this religion. It is much like saying Abraham is a Muslim because Muslim means submitting ot God...It is also like saying The Muslim god Allah is the God Jesus prayed to because the word Allah means God. These are misleading and mixing truth with lies which is the way of Satan.
