Because not only was Adolph Hitler a christian, the Nazi party itself was based on the christian church. And the church fully supported the Nazi party.
These are irrefutable facts by the way...

And there is the proof.

The straw man argument is creating a ridiculous distortion of an opponents views and attacking that instead of their actual views.
Saying that Christianity is equal to Nazism might be a straw man if the phrasing was done a certain way.
However pointing out Christian endorsement and helping of Nazis is just recounting history. The Nazis were helped into power by the many in the Catholic and Lutheran clergy who also collaborated with Nazis in the execution of their final solution.

Associating Christians with Nazis has nothing to do with atheism. It is based just on truths of history.
Hitler was baptized into the Catholic church and never left. In 1938, he stated that he was sure he was doing the Lord's work in suppressing the Jews.
The Nazi philosophy in its hatred of Jews was not atheist; it was Protestant. Martin Luther, the founder of Protestantism, was so rabidly anti-Jewish that some of his outburts of hatred are pretty much irrational. The Nazis loved this stuff, and displayed a copy of one of Luther's books at a Nuremberg Rally, proud to identify Nazism with Martin Luther and Christianity.
When Adolf Hitler became Chancellor, Pastor Martin Niemoller circulated an announcemnt to all the churches in his diocese urging them to recognize from the pulpit that Adolf Hitler was God's man and that all good Christians should support the Nazis.
In America, when the Ku Klux Klan terrorized people, they did it with the Christian symbol, a cross.
Assocating Christians with Nazis is not done particularly by atheists but is done by Christians and Nazis.

Especially when you read Hitler's comments on Christianity. There is no single quote from Hitler endorsing Christianity as a religion; but there are plenty of quotes from Hitler calling Christianity the invention of sick minds, and blaming Christianity for all the world's ills.
The Nazi party was based on the philosophy of Neitzsche. They (mis)interpreted the Superman to be the ancient Nordic race, and enacted a program of ethic cleansing to fulfill Neitzshe's great commission of furthering human evolution at the expense of modern man.

I don't think it would be fair to refer to Hitler's Christian roots specifically. It's certainly true that Pope Pious XI blessed German bombing missions and that the Church turned a blind eye to the holocaust.
But Hitler's resonance with religion is more with his status as a cult leader. He exemplifies the dangers of faith - whether that is faith in a deity, faith in a party, or faith in an idea. Believing that you cannot be wrong is characteristic of most religions. It's not that religion per se is wrong. It's that the underlying mindset is too dangerous to leave in the hands of powerful leaders with unquestioning followers. That's why so much harm has been done in the name of religion. It just happens that Christianity has done the most harm. Hitler was just one small part of that.

It is a straw man but how many atheists actually say it? Ad hominem is as big a logical fallacy as a straw man but it's what you're using as a matter of course in your questions.

I make a very direction connection to beliefs that lead to naziism, and the beliefs held by radical fundamentalists in America. There is a common thread of intolerance and ignorance. I think you have a piece of that thread hanging from your shirt.
The thread between not believing in God and communism is not existent. Communism is one grouop of people who are atheists. If you want to talk about communists...fine...but you were speaking about atheists. The difference is that I narrow what I am talking towards...the fundamentalist radicals.

Adolf Hitler wasn't a Christian, he was a pagan, like the wiccans of today. Hitler was a fan of Alistar Crowley, and said so in his writings.
