Kids may lose control and start bopping each other in the head with Tonka toys. Adults supposedly have more self-restraint.
Now give me back my dump truck, or else!

Your step son doesn't hate you. I have been on both ends of this one myself. Being a step child is not easy, especially if the parents don't agree. You learn real quick who to go to to get the answer that you want. I am assuming he is the only child in the house, if so that will be easier for you in the long run. If not, don't treat him any different than the other kids. Hold your ground with him. You may not be the biological parent here, but you are still a parent. If you start giving in to him now he will know that he will be able to do whatever he wants later when it is really important for the boundaries to be there. I wish your husband could see the damage he is doing by letting his son do whatever he wants. He is so going to regret that later. The best thing I can say is just stick to your guns. You have to be his parent not his friend so no matter what you do you will always be the "bad guy." Your step son will appreciate your decisions later in life. Trust me. Good luck.

Breaking kids up arguing is easy but with adults you are likely to get a punch in the mouth for not minding your own business.

Adults arguments are suppposedly more 'civilized' ,
ie: Passive Aggressive.
Kids argue by raising their voices, calling names, attacking their opponent, etc.
Adults usually do not employ these techniques, although Yahoo Answers has plenty of exceptions.
I think that if kids are taught not to argue and defend themselves, as adults they don't know how.
Civilized disagreement is cool!

Because as adults we know better - that's why we argue and don't break it up, we do all the things we tell kids not to do - like stay up late, eat too much, too little, or things not good for you, don't share our toys, and do whatever we want. It isn't good for kids ... hahahaha

Because adults think that children will end up attacking each other and they think they won't, but what about those movies when to adult's attack each other for land, isn't that just a bigger form off children fighting?

The same reason we call pornography adult entertainment. I say if it is not good enough for children, it is not good for adults....Is this who I think it is?
