I was just told by several people that the reason God(Jesus) had be born of the virgin Mary and live for 30 years as a human being was so that he "could understand what it is to be human."

What???? . . . . . . God, the one who created us, had to come down here and be a human being himself for awhile in order to understand what it's like to be one?

Is this right? Or did the people who told me this just give a wrong answer?

This article here

http://www.islamonline.net/servlet/Satellite?cid=1162385930696&pagename=IslamOnline-English-AAbout_Islam%2FAskAboutIslamE%2FAskAboutIslamE

says that Pope John Paul II could pray in a mosque because:

"[Christians] believe in one God, but that one God is understood in a different way"... (three parts - God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) ..."to the way Muslims believe in Allah (which is, after all, the Arabic name for this one God).

That is why, for example, Pope John Paul II, the leader of the world's Roman Catholics who died in 2005, and the Grand Mufti of Syria could pray together in the Great Mosque of Damascus. They were praying to the same God but had different ideas about what that God was like."

I am still not clear on this. What was the man who wrote the article talking about? Is Allah like the whole trinity or just God the Father (since in the Quran it does not say that God had a son).

I hope you can understand what I am asking?

Someone offered this in another question, thinking, I presume to offer more credence to a theistic position.

Here is my opinion... Evolution, unlike the existence of a God IS a falsifiable hypothesis. That's part of what makes it science. The reason it hasn't been disproven is because there is no contrary evidence.

Showing evidence contrary to evolution wouldn't be difficult if it existed. If the animals on Earth didn't show evidence of heredity with older species, or if they showed markedly different structure, without common traits such as a common bone structure, that might work.

I guess I'm interested in seeing the different viewpoints, such as how creationists claim that evolution isn't falsifiable, and how evolutionists respond. What sort of exchange might this be?

why go to such lengths to destroy it? America is one of the few countries in the world that actually allows Christians to live. Other countries have beaten, stoned, and imprisoned people for being Christian. After Jesus' death, the roman empire would kill anyone for being Christian, and this went on for about 300 years. It seems to me like the world is afraid of Christians. But why? I mean, it's just another silly religion with empty beliefs and false hope, right? And if the Bible is false, why validate it by persecuting Christians?

John 15:20 "Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also."--Jesus

Unless, of course, it IS true.

I have a lot of earth in my chart, one theory is that I should make my chart more balance by strengthening my other elements like eg water or wood to make myself more balance.

Yet there is another theory that I should strengthen earth element since I am a earth element person.

It is kind of confusing. Which theory is more right?

Some body asked "Why do Hindu hate muslim, why do muslim hate hindu, why do Christian hate others." He of course asks it this way because it is politically correct to spread blame, if you blame one religion you must blame them all, to be "equal" or else you are a racist or bigot, so you must equalize them all if you are going to criticize one.The truth is and you can comment , that Hindus hate mulims partially not as a result of their religion but as a result of thre intolerance and brutality they have experienced at the hands of the "practitioners of the religion of peace", Islam. Muslims hate everybody because that is inspired by the Koran, which teaches it deserves to rule over all because it is the true final revelation and so can't stand being under "false religion", there will be "peace", when it is recognised as the true one. Christians dont hate anybody but send missionaries all over the world doing good, loving them, sending gifts, living with them.Show me where if you disagree

By the way, I'm Roman Catholic.

So there's a game called the Psychic Circle and supposedly it allows you to talk to spirits. From what I've experienced, it works. But some people are sure that it only tells you what you want to hear. What do you think and why?

What permanent civilization and progress than can be expected from a people professing a religion founded on fatalism, polygamy and slavery? Their blind belief in inevitable fate, and their antagonism to liberty of thought and action have rendered reform next to impossible; and the professors of this religion seem never to realize their obligations and duty towards the people under their rule, of spreading true civilization, good government and the cultivation of the peaceful arts. The natural consequence of this ignorance and blindness has been despotism, mal-administration, bigoted persecution and oppression of their their co-religionists.
