I'm asking because repeatedly Christians have told me that they oppose same-gender marriage because a gay couple cannot produce a child of their own.

I don't think that same-gender marriage is worth opposing, but if I did it would be because the Bible calls it an abomination.

A wise pastor/professor once said, 'sometime you have to let pagans be pagans'.

This is about same gender relationship and same gender marriage.

The state of Massachusetts allows same gender marriage, so this is really on the political not religious issue. There is nothing in the bible that prohibits same gender marriage because it prohibits same gender relationships.

Christians will point out Gen 19:1-29; Rom 1:24-27; 1 Cor 6:10, and finally 1 Tim 1:10 that deals with the same gender relationships. It is about the same gender relationship not the personal orientation.

None of the biblical citation deals with procreation.

That is not why anybody opposes homosexual relations or mockery of Christian marraige. Because that alone can be possible for a sterile couple, but it is true of homosexual deviancy for a different reason than it is of a blessed but sterile couple.
That is just one of the manifestations of its error. It is a lifestyle dicated and defined by lust as well. There are many reasons to show this thing which is abominable, because it is so to God,reason, logic, natural sentiment, body design, conceptualization, and scripture.
it is rejected because it is repugnant to reason and life, to nature and it is nearly universal sentiment to find it offensive and daring.
It is rejected because of these things and also because it is agianst our Gods intent fro man and women.

I loved my husband I knew he was the one, that is the reason we got married. Five years after marriage we decided to have children. We now have 3 and have been married 11 years. We didn't want to have kids right away. We were still young and starting out in life, we wanted to have job security a place of our own and reliable cars. So, no we got married because we loved each other, later we thought about kids. It is an abomination for same gender people to marry, have sex etc. It says so in the bible

Scripture talks about when two people who are the opposite sex share thier bodies, they become one. There is a close personal connection that you cannot get anywhere else, with anyone else.

Same sex relationships many will argue, only allow for a physical sensual existence, many will say that " my same sex partner knows me better than the opposite sex does" but the point being it is a challenge and struggle to get along with your partner of the opposite sex, going through the daily challenges doesn't allow for you to change your partner, but it allows for daily growth and strength in love and understanding.
It allows us to experience the kind of love God has for us in an opposite sex relationship. Anything else just falls short, one may argue it, but still the very act that is to bring two people together not only physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, in a same sex relationship keeps two souls seperate from eachother.

God created procreation not only to populate the world, but it is a gift, from two people who love eachother, it is created by two loving people who's bodies become one, and thier seed becomes one.

No, The Bible also reveals that Gods purpose for us to get married is also to bring glory to his name. The marriage (woman cleaving to husband as caretaker) is a model of the realtionship of Christ to the church. In other words, marriage is another way in which if done properly, God has shown us what it is like to be in a right relationship with him.

I married my husband because he was my soul mate and partner in life. Children came later as a blessing. We are a family unit now.

Nope. Christians pretty much only marry so they can have legitimate children.

Jude.1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
