I've heard this rumor a few times. I'd like to know if it's true and why.

I answered a question about JW's and gave a true story from my life as an example. I got thumbs down.

Personally....I have no problem with JW's making their choice, but I see no reason to put limits on my Higher Power.

What are your thoughts on how you percieve your God? Trustworthy or not?

Pretty much all the religion believe that if a child dies before he can discern what religion is, he goes to heaven. If people truely believed that, why would anyone let their kid grow up? If you kill the child while he's young (pardon the graphics but this is a serious question) he has a gaurenteed entrance to heaven. If you let him grow up, there is a chance he will change religions (as 13% of people do) and go to hell. True, it's cruel to kill you children, but we're talking about the their eternal status here! Now that my parent's have let me survive into adulthood, I have lost my garentee of heaven and now stand a very good chance of going to hell? Why do religious people let their kids survive?

A Standers Affirmation
I AM STANDING FOR THE HEALING OF MY MARRIAGE!... I will not give up, give in, give out or give over 'til that healing takes place. I made a vow, I said the words, I gave the pledge, I gave a ring, I took a ring, I gave myself, I trusted GOD, and said the words, and meant the words... in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in good times and in bad...so I am standing NOW, and will not sit down, let down, slow down, calm down, fall down, look down or be down 'til the breakdown is torn down!

I refuse to put my eyes on outward circumstances, or listen to prophets of doom, or buy into what is trendy, worldly, popular, convenient, easy, quick, thrifty, or advantageous... nor will I settle for a cheap imitation of God's real thing, nor will I seek to lower God's standard, twist God's will, rewrite God's word, violate God's covenant, or accept what God hates, namely divorce!

In a world of filth, I will stay pure; surrounded by lies I will speak the truth; where hopelessness abounds, I will hope in God: where revenge is easier, I will bless instead of curse; and where the odds are stacked against me, I will trust in God's faithfulness.

I am a STANDER, and I will not acquiesce, compromise, quarrel or quit.. I have made the choice, set my face, entered the race, believed the Word, and trusted God for all the outcome.

I will allow neither the reaction of my spouse, nor the urging of my friends, nor the advice of my loved ones, nor economic hardship, nor the prompting of the devil to make me let up, slow up, blow up, or give up 'til my marriage is healed.

Imagine that you are stranded on a desert highway and the nearest town is 1000 miles away. Also imagine that everyonce and a while a car passes on the road and you hitchhike. None of the drivers care and stop to pick you up. After a while, you drop your thumb and attempt to make it to the town on foot. I relate this to Buddhism because cars are like religions of this world that will truely not drive you to where you need to be. Buddhism is getting tired of worldly religions and seeking the path on your own. You give up because no religions provide true concrete results. Instead you decide to walk the path on your own and forget about waiting for someone to pick you up.

I say we do not, so leave your completely peaceful rhetoric filled brochures at home and learn to play croquet and enjoy barbecues. Please understand this, we don't need someone coming up to our porches on a Sunday afternoon to tell us that our beliefs/God/Gods are second fiddle compared to THE MESSAGE that you provide. Do you know what people would appreciate? $10 and some retirement advice. I guaruntee that if you stopped printing your books/brochures and made this switch, your membership retain rate would go through your proverbial wooden shingled roof. Just consider it and remember that Jehovah's Witnesses are reserved a room in hell where everytime they sit down to enjoy a glass of iced tea, someone knocks on their door and tells them that they're wearing the wrong clothes and will pay eternally for the infraction.

I went to Wikipedia today. They always have a feature page showing. This one was about JRR Tolkien. There was a prominant reference to his being Roman Catholic made the more prominent because it was blue hyper text. I have an Irish Catholic background. I am died in the wool Irish, have two Irish parents. As you know Irish are Catholic by birthriight. I went to Catholic school. That is my back ground. What puzzles me is how anyone who is an Oxford don could be a Catholic. I went to a state school, I did'nt have the same educational advantages as him, yet I have been able to figure out that religion is hoakum. Many people have told me that religion is subjective, a matter of faith, and that like taste there is no accounting for it. I am no longer willing to accept that argument as religion is an objective thing that religionists are trying to foist on the rest of us. There is enough information in a junior college history course to show religion as a cultural specific.

He cannot be just an enlighted individual like Ghandi, Mother Theresa or Buddah.

He was either a liar, a madman or he WAS the Son of God.

The hugest historical event in history, the man who split time into A.D. and B.C. was either the most evil, decieving, nutcase in the history of man, or HE WAS THE SON OF GOD.

What do you think?

Have billions been duped, or is the oldest religion in history onto something.

"Christianity" may have been corrupted, it may have been twisted, it may have been interepeted and it may have been used by legalist and fundmentalist wack jobs to leverage their agenda but the answer is either madman or savior...

Did the a form of reincarnation exist in the teachings of early Christianity?

http://reluctant-messenger.com/origen3.html

quote:
================================
Although the Bible also contains other reincarnational passages, these Elijah-John passages constitute clear proof of reincarnation:

1. The Old Testament prophesied that Elijah himself (not someone "like" him or someone "similar" to him, but Elijah himself) would return before the advent of the Messiah.

2. Jesus declared that John the Baptist was Elijah who had returned, stating bluntly "Elijah has come".

Now, based on these passages alone, either (A) or (B) must be true:

(A) John the Baptist was Elijah himself, meaning that Elijah had reincarnated. If this is true, then reincarnation must belong in Christian theology, and the West's entire doctrinal interpretation of "Life After Death" in general, and the "Last Day Resurrection" in particular, must be radically revised, or...

(B) John the Baptist was not Elijah himself, meaning that Elijah himself had not returned. If this is so, then either:

(1) The Old Testament prophecy about Elijah returning before the Messiah failed to come to pass (meaning that Biblical prophecy is fallible), OR

(2) Jesus was not the Messiah.

Basically, it comes down to this simple question: What do you want to believe? One of the following A, B, or C, must logically be true:

A. Reincarnation is true, or

B. Jesus was not the Messiah, or

C. The prophecies of the Bible are unreliable.

The religions of the world seem to agree that you should do good to others, sometimes at your own expense. For example, if you see a beggar on the street, it is "good" for you to give him some food or money. It's a bit of an inconvienance for you, but the begger is very needy so you should do this anyway?

Now here's the tough question: do you do good for sake of others, or is just because you want some profit in the afterlife?

Put another way, suppose you have two options. First: everyone who ever lived goes to hell, except you. That option seems quite selfish. Your other option is for you to go to hell FOREVER with no hope of escape, but the rest of humanity goes to heaven and will be eternally grateful for their salvation. In other words, you can choose between eternal rewards or the greatest charity possible. Which option, honestly, would you choose?

Am I the only one that thinks it a little too convenient that man happens to be created in the image of God?

Isn't it more likely that God was created in the image of man to make him more acceptable.

I agree not to ridicule your beliefs not matter how stupid they are, just as long as you don't use that old panacea "God works in mysterious ways". Use that phrase and it is open season.

Why do hindus worship Gods made by themselves when the statues cant hush off a fly by themselves?

asked this question before and got this even more complicated answer! it said:
"lets take an example when someone needs to recognise you to meet you and they are given your photograph ,the photograph of yours cannot act like you but its ur recognition.
statues of hindu gods are only a force of reconginization of god and not god.

well then if u want to thank the person...u wont say thanks to the photograph wud u? u'd go to the person. then y not straight away ask from god rather than his "photograph"?

im myslef a hindu but this religion is too much confusing for me. my intellect just doest give way to follow it.
plz help me coz my family doesnt want me to convert to christanity or islam.
plz pm me on rnsm_4ever and help me solve this. help me!
i'll someday might die out of this confusion which does not let me concentrate on anything else.

Everyone is talking about the reporting going on.... each side ie: Christians vs non-Christians. Folks dont you realize... its posted in other sections where they recruit people... there are groups on here that like to stir things up... they will go for a day reporting and bashing Atheists for example... then next day they report Christians.... knowing full well that each side will blame the other so they can sit back and watch the fires fly.
They have multipule yahoo accounts so its harder to track them, but its the same people... they brag about it in other catagories on here... Folks your being played by players.
Realize it .... and if your here for serious discussion or serious questions.... the ingnore the ignorance and it will move on because they wont be getting the response they are looking for.

God bless
