Atheist n A person to be pitied in that he is unable to believe things for which there is no evidence, and who has thus deprived himself of a convenient means of feeling superior to others.

I only wish to work in an enviroment that is holy and rightous. I have been working in sales for many years and finding myself unable to do so ; because I fear it does not line up with the word of God? Everyone needs health insurance, everyone goes to the doctor, I am considering selling health insurance, does this line up with the word of god?

If it does, doesn't that suggest that religion's just something people made up to help them deal with the terrible fact that they're going to die one day and they want someone to tell them that they aren't going to "really" die?

So how do we draw the distinction between judging the individual, and lovingly and respectfully rebuking those who sin?

I mean come on. We get 1000 words here. Im not going to write you a history book. Even if I did, it's not possible to write down everything that has ever happened. I am simply sharring my biased view of History as you are sharring yours. Theres no such thing has a non-biased view of history because mere factual selection is inherently biased.

Please don't insult people's intelligence without merrit. I bet a lot of people don't realize that Columbus didn't discover that the earth was round. In fact, it was a well known fact. The curvature of the Earth is an easy thing to test with the simplests of instruments and/or observations. Simply watch a ship rise up and over the horizon and you'll see how the Earth curves. People aren't as stupid as you might think.

Anyways, the fact remains. This country was formed and based on Christian values and doctrines and we can see the influence all the way into today. Doesn't matter what a hanful of men might have believed at the time.

As a pagan it offends me because i teach my children that a higher energy created everything.

i don't need my kids thinking evolution is fact and the only option!

As usual,I find atheists being intolerant to other faiths!!!

Sound is energy, check out a MIchigan State game, the stadium vibrates with positave energy when the spartans score. Proof is when a jet breaks the sound barrier a very loud "boom" is heard and felt. So using GOD's name in vain can only create negative energy and GOD is pure so IT/HE/SHE can't use it. Good people can't use it. So 911 people can and whatever is left over forces nature to use it such as "Katrina". Americans are the worst offenders and it's because Hollywood movies constantly script the words using GOD to damn something (GOD BLESS, GOD BLESS)..

Well, I believe that those energies and processes exist. I just don't think that they've been adequately described or adequately named yet, because people are too willing to make it all into something that supports a religious theory of one flavor or another. If you start defining these things in nuts-and-bolts scientific terms, people reject it because it's not fun, y'know. It takes some of the romance out of being dead ... because of people's desires to have eternal life and to extend their influence from beyond the grave ... all that Houdini type stuff ... but basically, I think when you're dead ... you're dead. It comes with the territory.

...from the discovery channel?

I mean come on. The founding fathers almost universely came from or decended from immigrants from Great Britain. Great Britain at the time was ruled by the Church of England (a Christian denomination). Despite what your kindergarden teacher told you, the vast majority of immigrants to the Americas for economic oppurtunity not religious persecution (believe it or not the puritans weren't the only immigrants.)

My point is every group immigrating to the American Colonies from the establishment of the Virginia Colony to the "shot heard 'round the world" were heavily if not universally Christian. Does it not stand to reason to call this countries origins fundementally Christian?

Personally, I consider the dissenting view to be on par with the nut that think 9/11 was orchastrated by the U.S. government so they could get more oil.

It is written in the NT, “No one shall be justified by following the law, rather through the law we become conscious of sin…”

How do we as Christians identify sin from the laws of the Old Covenant (i.e. murder, following different religions or gods, sexual immorality, etc.) versus restrictions of the Old Covenant that applied specifically to the Israelites of that time such as prohibitions on the eating of shellfish, for example (perhaps similar to how Samson was required in the covenant between him and God to not cut his hair, and yet this restriction on hair cutting does not apply to us today)?

At times, when I am with my girflriend, in her house, we hear three knocks. The first time was upstairs, sounded like it came from the outside wall, then next time was almost a year later, and the three knocks came right before I got to the door as I was coming over.
What could this mean?

I ask this question because I wonder when is it right? I do not think that killing is right, but I do not look upon someone who's daughter was raped and he killed her attacker, I do not see him being wrong.
But then I myself would not do such a thing. Such as when I forgave my daughters father for molesting her, and she did too.
Some told me I was wrong in forgiving him, and wished bad things upon him. But I felt sorry for him, because I knew in order for him to do such a thing something happened to him. So I ask when is it right or wrong? And do you think I was stupid to forgive, and in doing so my daughter forgave too?
