No. Not unless you are speaking as a councelor.
And do not let your people practice fortune-telling or sorcery, or allow them to interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft,
or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead.
Anyone who does these things is an object of horror and disgust to the LORD. It is because the other nations have done these things that the LORD your God will drive them out ahead of you.
You must be blameless before the LORD your God.
Deuteronomy 18:10-13
I believe what you are proposing is considered functioning as a medium. Deal with the living. Since the dead are in the spirit realm, the spirit realm can fool you since you are limited in testing the spirits.
You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.
This is the way to find out if they have the Spirit of God: If a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ became a human being, that person has the Spirit of God.

There is nothing wrong with trying to understand the spirit world. Just be sure to seek your answers in the bible first, there's a lot of information that's more informative than the guesses scientists are making about spirits. Just remember this:
“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable way of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or WHO CONSULTS THE DEAD. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God. The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord has not permitted you to do so” (Deuteronomy 18:9-14).

As Jefferson said, god created man's mind free...
But don't read the hucksters on this matter - or at least also read The Amazing Randi and get Carl Sagan's - A Demon Haunted World: Science as A Candle in The Dark: - for a methodical look at such matters.

Yes its okay. Christians are free to choose. I suspect you are more concerned if an interest in the occult would be sinful. I do not have a good answer for that, though I am sure you will get a lot, lol, I would say to discuss it with someone you trust such as a parent or your minister.

I hate when you are apart of a religion where you have to ask if it's okay to do something that isn't harming others. I'm not sure if hauntings are real, but they are really interesting. The ghosts may be in limbo or pergatory. You should seriously question any God or church that tries to inhibit you from gaining knowledge about the world you live in.

Yes. I dare you to find the answers biblically though - the father of lies will do just that - and none of his sources are reliable. Find out what ghosts really are biblically - and what God says to do about them. It's an amazing journey, but dangerous spiritually if you believe and act on lies. Go - but be careful.

God wired us to be interested in different things. I am a Christian, and one of my favorite shows is "GhostHunters" on SciFi. I can't explain the things that go on and I'm not sure I want to know, but it is all still very interesting. I too am interested in why all these things happen - are they demonic, are they really just "lost" - I don't know, but I think it's okay to be curious.

Negative spiritual energies are the domain of Satan, and he often gives them the form of deceased relatives, etc.
Christianity is positive, and a Christian should not deal with negative energies except for a positive purpose (deliverance, for instance). And he must be very mature when he does so.

Have you found Biblical evidence to support the existence of things that are haunted? Do you think that Jesus would spend His time researching that?
