Do you think that as a whole the world is experiencing more and more frequent catastrophic events, or is it just that we are so "connected" via various different media outlets that it just seems that way?

I am involved in a case with the State of Texas, and one of the things that they are holding against me is that I smoked Marijuana earlier this year that was given to me in Denver, CO. The lawyer didn't believe that marijuana users would just "give" someone two joints, and indicated that the judge wouldn't either. So, in an effort to poll those who do smoke, I have a question, please answer yes or no. And, thank you for your opinion. The more answers I receive, either yes or no, will better establish what happens normally in this country.

Question: Based on your knowledge and experience, do Marijuana users commonly share Marijuana with other people who use Marijuana, with a gift of two joints being a normal, acceptable quantity to give to someone as a gift?

This may seem odd, but, it's only because I study geography alone that I feel the need to ask this. I have no geography friends :( and I try to talk to my friends about geography but they get bored and start to whine *shakes fist* haha
Basically, I just want to hear why you love geography, I always find myself sitting there thinking about how great it is in my lessons, and how I'd love to share with others those moments when it all just clicks and the world makes sense, or when you see problems and really want to change them.
So, my question is why go you like geography? (if you do)
It's purely for my personal interest.
Haha and I wonder why my friends roll their eyes at me...
Actually, any subject really is interesting to discover why people enjoy it. So I am going to throw another question out there (oh yes) why do you like your favorite subject?

I think it should be lowered to 16. And yes most teens are immature but that probably means they wont vote even if they can, but for the ones that want to have input then why not?

OK. Well, in my friend's grade seven homeroom class, the teacher said that come Valentine's Day, the home room captains would pick a name out of a hat, and that person would pick one person they like, and some time during the day, kiss that person. She was serious, too. I just don't think that that's fair... also, the person that would have their named picked would probably be really embarrassed, and then everyone would be all nervous to see who they would want to kiss. I just don't think it is right that the teacher is provoking things like that. What are your thoughts on this?

I have a little daughter (6 years old), and I think that if a man raped to my daughter, I will might kill him, but I don't consider myself as a murderer. I also think that if he goes to the prison, the others prisoners will rape him and eventually, kill him.
What do you think?.....Kisses from Wales, UK.

I have been having an ongoing conversation with my boyfriend about how most people in our generation respond to these ideas conceptually- perhaps without any direct experience to work from.

So, if you could post your answers to these three questions, I would be grateful. Nuances are also appreciated over a simple "yes" or "no".:

1. Do you believe that homosexuality has moral implications?

2. Do you believe one race of people to be superior to another (or all others)?

3. Do you believe in a God/Gods, and- whether you do or not- what is your belief about how the universe came into existence, and what God's role in moral behavior is?

I saw something on the news today, about a survey that revealed that almost 30% of people think Mt Everest is in Europe.
My local paper ran an ariticle last year about how nearly 2/3 of 15 year olds don't know when D-Day is, or even what D-Day is. Some of them even think that D-Day is something to do with the war in Iraq (My grandads would be rolling in their graves if they heard people saying that!)
I also saw a question on here last week about the Armistice, and judging by the answers, an awful lot of people don't know what it is or don't even care!

What's happening to people?

It seems like on the news every week you hear of some of the most bizarre and absurd things that one could even think of. Take for example the man in the story below:

http://www.somerset-kentucky.com/archivesearch/local_story_300195238.html

I mean...what in the hell is up with people nowadays. Regarding the story above, there are just absolutely no words that can describe how beyond awful and disgusting something like that is.

Are people getting worse and worse?

Woman Sentenced in Kidnapping

A Chickasaw County woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison Tuesday for her role in the kidnapping and torture of a mentally disabled man.
Kimberly Matchett pleaded guilty in early October to willful injury and three counts of child endangerment. She was initially charged with aiding and abetting first-degree kidnapping, which could have put her in prison for life.
She is among five people charged in the kidnapping and torture of Thomas Cummings in August at a rural Ionia farmhouse.
The only pending trial in the case involves Robert Skillen, who is charged with first-degree kidnapping. Skillen rented the farmhouse and Matchett was his live-in girlfriend. His trial is scheduled for January 16th

This just saddens me. I can not understand the cruelty people are capable of. Does not matter where you live, even in Iowa there are crazies. The lack of compasion....where does it come from?
