Very interesting question. I believe it all has to do with nature though. Even if you look at the animal kingdom its not all about flowers and sunshine. Animals have conflict too but we just perform the same action on a more deceptive and complex level than they do. We should be able to be above animals and be able to get along much better than we do but we don't so that seems to be the way it goes.

i think its because we don't want to be equal.If we were all equal then our egos would not be able to inflate.We have a need to feel superior to others.So if we cant feel superior to those around us then we have to find a different group of people that we can feel superior to. So everyone being the same just won't work in this society

because hardly anyone can get passed each others looks, and then someone had to invent religion and beliefs, way to go dumb@ss, had to ruin it for the whole human race didnt you, now we all hate each other. oh well.
