There may be some cultural decline, but I remember something like this happening when I was about ten in the town we lived in.
I remember my parents commenting how awful it was. That was 40 years ago.
I think it has always been there along with many other bad things. There are still amny good things in the world as well.
I think the 24/7 news, a phenomonen ofthe last 20-25 years makes these stories heard more widely than ever before so things seem worse.
That is awful that any parents would do that to their own child.

Aaaaah, and i wanna use the F word....Ugh.
Well, we hear about it alot more nowadays, the media will jump all over stories like this for ratings and such which is sick and twisted but it is a cruel reminder of the type of people we share air with!
That poor poor baby. I have a 23 month old, and it just knots my stomach to think of someone harming such an innocent, tiny baby.
I think the world has always been evil, and i'm sure 1000 years ago it may have been worse because at one time, it was okay for men to rape and sodomize. A website was revealed last year of men who say it should still be legal to perform sexual acts on children and they even shared explicit photos and videos.
I thought no way can this be true because if it was known about by the FBI police etc etc then why has it not been shut down, it was on the news, it was on a board i used to go on and someone posted a link - oh it was also talked about on Y/A News and Media with a link, so i thought you know what, i'll see the first page to see if what is said is true and alo and behold, there it was, the front page mind was pretty bare and normal looking for any website but at the bottom and side wrote messages of acts and links to pictures and videos, i about threw up.
We're supposed to be a more civilized race but obviously that's not true.

Nothing has changed, nothing has gotten "worse". Media is so vast and the technology available to bring every bit of detail from one side of the world to the other has advance to such a degree. Maybe 15 years ago that story would most likely have been known only to those in the Rockcastle County, Kentucky surrounding area. It'd be lucky to reach all of the state. Not that I put much faith in a religion or the bible being a reliable source for the absolute truth in history, if you look at is as a story book and consider it's age, there are accounts and mentions of such horrible acts in the earliest of our known history.
