I was watching a commercial for one of those adopt a child programs and this question occurred to me. If this childs family is to poor to buy the kid a pair of shoes, then why are they still having more children. I personally wouldnt chance the possibility of bringing another kid into the world if i couldnt afford shoes, food, or a decent roof. How come this logic escapes poorer countries. I dont want to hear education, because even if i where completely in the dark and backwards in my education, i would still put these together and not have anymore kids.

I posted this in an answer and wondered what people would think:

A much easier way to solve both the welfare and illegal problems is to require proof of citizenship at the welfare counter.

Then, if legal non-citizen residents couldn't get on welfare without being naturalized (essentially having to prove themselves as productive workers), most people would have fewer problems with making legal residency easier for otherwise law-abiding immigrants

I believe in the power of numbers. I am looking to use 726 or 728 in a tagline but want to make sure it is not a negative number in numerology, or some other number centric believe system. Does anyone know?

I live in the upper part of the south and I have to say I've met some of the meanest and rudest (and most closed minded) people in this part of the US. Grant it, I haven't been further south since I was a toddler but I've vistied some of the northern parts of the country (Philly and Lancaster County) and I find the people are no more rude or no more nice than the people in and around my state of Virginia.

And for starters when someone points out that you are being rude, they are usually rude and condescending themselves when doing it.

What's your take on Southern Hospitality?

For example. I have no problems with blacks, but I’m not a huge fan the slang, the hip hop, etc.
I have nothing against Mexicans, but I don’t want to hear that music blaring in the neighborhood, can’t stand everything being in Spanish, and am sickened by 10+ people living in a single family dwelling.
Does this make me a bigot? Anyone else feel like this?

I'm in a biracial relationship...My husband is Latino and I'm white. The other day, we went out to dinner and there was a girl sitting a few tables away from us. She was in my line of vision and I noticed that she kept staring at us and giving us weird looks. She was there with a guy (who had his back to us) and even though they were talking, she would continue to look over at us constantly. While what she was doing wasn't anything blatantly rude, it kind of annoyed me. I've been in similar situations before. I know there are biracial couples out there who have faced a lot worse than what I described. I'm just curious about what other biracial couples' experiences have been. Has it been your experience that people tend to ignore the fact that the two of you are of two different races/ethnicities, or have other people made an issue out of it? Serious answers only please.
