Are young people in Britain more violent than they used to be? I am an American who recently began reading BBC online. It seems a lot of incidents of violence, shootings, gangs, etc. are going on among teens in Britain. But I don't know if this has always been the case since I don't live there.

we had a few zealots the flew planes into buildings and blew them up,, did the guy who blew up the oklahoma building attack america, no he blew up a building,, just like these nutcases,, this isnt the 1st time it happened at those buildings and we didnt go to war with iraq then,,they were pent up zealots,, not an army, an army attacks,, zealots just blow up buildings

Let's be honest, for a dimwitted and poorly educated generation who wouldn't know a semi-colon if it bit them on the a*se, this whole texting cobblers is a dream come true. If someone cannot be bothered to spell correctly, use capital letters and punctuation appropriately then why should I waste time with their whitterings? I get sick to death of having to "translate" postings in order to understand them.
Ours is the language of Shakespeare and Chaucer - why are we allowing it to be corrupted by illiterate numpties?

Many people have thought I was Jewish because my last name is Cohen. I think this is funny, not everyone with a German last name is Jewish. I think it's probablly a combination of living in the New York metro area and having a German name. Any thoughts?

Do they still have smoking hotel rooms? I thought that the no smoking ban applied to all workplaces and a hotel bedroom is a workplace to a chambermaid etc.

Well, first off, I'm a boxer, I've been boxing for about 2 years now, and I know what I can do, and I haven't been in a street fight since then. Since as a boxer, I've not only learned how to be a fighter, but be a better person all together, I'm much more humble when it comes to people I've never met and a lot more friendly. Being a boxer you know what you can do to people so its nothing to go around boasting about, but theres someone at my school who i absoloutely can't stand, we play football together, he acts like he's king of the school, he likes to punk out the smaller players and sometimes freshmen and steps up to me sometimes and gives me looks and thinks he can take me, ( i'm sure he thinks this ). I don't tell anyone I'm a boxer or I've been boxing other than a few close friends. Should I put this guy in his place or just walk away and continue on with what I've been doing? Why or why not should i beat his *** and put him in his place for good?

I'm from Japan and really interested in an American culture. I hope my English is understandable.
Why is Friday an important day for people in America? I often hear the phrase, "TGIF=Thank God, it's Friday!"
Does Friday have a profound meaning to American people?
Do they do something special every Friday? Party or something?
And do you know the backgrounds or history(?) of this fact? For example, when did people start to think Friday is an important day?
I'm curious to know about these.

Everyday I go outside and hear my neigbors yelling Allah Akbar and running through a gauntlent style course they constructed. last week I saw them with Ak-47's standing around a handcuffed guy in an orange jumpsuit talking to a camera in some foreign language. I really though it was odd when Osama Bin Laden came over for Ramadan dinner with presents for their kids. They are always very friendly with me talking about gold chains and how Im their "Main Man." But there is something unusual about their behavior. I have though about constucting a CIA style bootcamp in my backyard to balance the extremism in the neighborhood. What should I do?

I kind of don't like it because I think that now this person will be constantly looking into my questions and answers. But sometimes I do enjoy their answers and seeing a familiar face (avatar) every now and then. I haven't added anyone as a contact up til now because I had been wondering if other people feel that way too.
