I'm only a high school freshman, but my senior friends have mixed emotions about leaving high school behind.
I feel that I can't relate to them because I never really had to say goodbye before.
How do they feel?

This is not meant to be a "question for the sake of a question". Rather I have noticed that we sometimes make postulations and sometimes presumptions about people (age, background, gender, etc.) based on what a person has said, his or her writing style, etc. Thanks!

I've been becoming more and more depressed about the world today. It's all about money and material wealth and nobody takes the time to care about anyone. War, murder, gambling, prostitution, poverty, homelessness, porn, rape, theft, drugs, tobacco smoke filling the lungs of children, starvation, suicide, depression, medication, lawsuits, STI's, obesity, etc... It just seems like there's nothing good left in the world... Am I the only one who thinks so?

It is often said that people are too materialistic these days--that materialism has become a dominant value. What kinds of things do you see, hear, or experience that make you think, "I don't want to be a materialistic person"?

I think that is so rediculous (of course I am white). I just want to know what other people think about that. How can you possibly abolish a word? People are going to say what they want, RIGHT. Of course you can see more info at there website. http://www.abolishthenword.com/

In studying my family's genealogy, I found several distinction in the Scot/Irish ancestry. There is the classic the orange or the green, Northern Irish vs, well, all other Irish, and both have clans with special mottos and allies. Some Clans have taken in other clan(s) while on some large Clans, (like Campbell) there can be many different branches of the same name.
Except for the immigrant discrimination (esp. against the Irish), these various groups have all melted into US Citizens. There is little to no division anymore, and many desire such a heritage!
Now my point ot it all: There are literally no Irish/Scottish holidays. I know everyone points to St. Patricks day, but really this is not a holiday of heritage. It is an excuse to drink green beer and parade if you feel the urge. Without any group, (like the NAACP), these two cultures have made a great difference in American heritage. I think it is time to change black and hispanic issues into citizen issues. What do you think?
