I'm a West Coast girl born and bred, and when I went to the East Coast this summer one thing I noticed was how everyone there calls pop 'soda.' What's with different sides of the country calling it different things?

I am so sick of people hating on each other. Be it racism, sexist remarks, or homophobia. Are the people of the world ever going to see that there are horrible things happening and we are ignoring them?

I was sitting with a friend at her computer yesterday. She logged into MySpace and went to post a comment on someone's generic photo. "Your so pretty," she wrote. I brought it to her attention that she used the wrong form - that it should've been "you're" for "you" and "are". She looked at me and very seriously said, "I don't want to look like a snob." She then submitted her comment, incorrect usage and all.

So now it's snobbish to use correct grammar? I wasn't aware of this; I just assumed very few people knew how to use it. How many people deliberately use the wrong form of this in hopes of avoiding a certain label?

something tells me that it would create more problems but I don't know why. maybe someone can explain through economics or socoiology or whatever why it might end up screwing everyone over.

I haven't been able to move up the work chain at my job, can't help but to take siestas all the time and cross the border illegally. I have a hard time communicating with others. I'm really short too. I have a dozen kids to take care of, so I need to figure this out soon. Help?

This is for an English assignment I'm doing and I've got my seven commandments, but I was wondering what others would put as their commandments.

The commandments I used were simple and you could definitely tell they came from the mind of a teenager (well at least I thought so).

They were as followed (not in any specific order):
1. Respect everyone, even if they don't respect you.
2. Stealing things is wrong, no matter what the value is.
3. Hurting others just for the sake of hurting them is intolerable. Sorry for all the sadists.
4. No one should be scared to be who they are; posers don't exist.
5. Cliques are okay as long as they don't shun others.
6. Accept others; it's the right thing to do -- no one's perfect.
7. No one is looked down upon unless they've done something incredibly heinous and unforgivable.

As a man i think there is nothing sexyier than a woman in heels. However i used to work in Lady's shoes and i know all the damage they can cause to your foot. Personally if i was a woman i would not go through half the hopes you ladies do to attract a man. I guess i am glad i am a man

Squirrels are rodents, visually close to rats. Are squirrels less likely to bring disease to humans than rats? Are rats more likely to be rabid than squirrels? This girl is so unkind and her parent will not do anything about it. I stay in side and do not walk that way. Believe me I do not cause the problem but she lies and say I say something and screams at me and she is bigger and the neighbors have seen this and no one will stop her attacts, and now her younger sister saying I said something to her, lied I gave her the finger. I am not allowed to get mad.
