We can't possibly make our own luck. But we can make our own perceptions and attitudes about what our lives are like. Whether my life is happy or sad is entirely in my own head. If I decide that my life is happy and that I am a lucky person, then I am.

The Bible speaks of fortune (fortunate) and unfortunate. I have trouble believing in luck. However much I want to stop saying Luck, I keep finding myself saying it, lol. So, who knows? Do we make our own? No, I don't think so, not at all. I think our attitude "colors" the way we see life and some days we're just picking out the bad stuff and when we feel great we tend to notice everything good is all.
The Bible (again) says that "unforeseen occurances befall us all." Basically, what this means is "sh1t happens." Bad things, things outside of our control will happen in our lives we can't foresee. Cars will lose their brakes, rocks roll off mountains, meteors slam through houses (happened yesterday), etc. We never know whats around the next corner.

I think that the expression "we make our own luck in life" makes absolutely no sense. Luck is external to us. If you can make your own luck, make yourself a winning lottery ticket.
Maybe what the saying is expressing, badly, is about perseverance, and keep going when things seem t go bad. But that has nothing to do with actual luck, it's just that we have to get good at things before succeding.

It is really superstition. There are unfortunate events that happen to people, but the old concept of luck just doesn't fly in the real world.

You totally make your own luck! As long as it's in your Chart. Sylvia Browne says... That we all write down everything we are to experience (for God) in Heaven before we come here. We choose our parents, marriages, jobs, you name it! Sometimes we chose alot of crap. Heaven is perfect, and we have to come down here to Earth's negativity to get in some real learning. We all have to go through alot of crap. Hopefully, you can find joy in little moments along the way!!!
