I'm a West Coast girl born and bred, and when I went to the East Coast this summer one thing I noticed was how everyone there calls pop 'soda.' What's with different sides of the country calling it different things?

It's the east coast west coast battle. Gotta change words up so they can claim the other side is "weird".
Like in the west we calling a shopping cart a "cart" in the east they call it a "buggy".

I'm orginially from the mid-west and once I visited family in the east. I asked my aunt for a "pop" and she thought I wanted a popsicle lol.

Well, just because people are from the same country doesn't mean that they have the same customs or values. There are some places that are way more conservative than others and etc.

actually, I think you have it backwards....in cali we call it soda, but when I visit relatives in pennysylvania and carolina they call it pop. That's funny that you've heard it the exact opposite way!

In the South, we call everything "Coke". Even Sprite, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, etc. It's all "Coke" to us.
