For the Girl below that associates Slavery with loads of bad stuff, I'd just like her to know that I have never beaten one of my slaves yet....Not all slave drivers are bad, some even paid there slaves...

In the Roman empire, slaves if lucky were owned by masters who educated and treated them well. Some were even adopted into the family.
The person would know he or she was a slave, but overall if treated well by rich owners, it would be better than being owned by lesser better off owners, or cruel ones.
In any case, I would rather be the half skint person I am. Being a uni student is as close to being a slave as I care to become.

well of course you would know. people who are slaves have no authority over themselves. you would definitely know. slavery would be like not doing anything thing that you want at your time. being beaten by people who dislikes you ,women getting raped and tortured. babies getting beating. men and women in chains with no freedom what so ever. it would be like what black people went through a couple of years ago. some of us are still going through that but it's not really noticeable to some people. and yes you would know if you were a slave.

Open your eyes dude...if you are an American...you are a slave. Mental Slavery is worse than chattel slavery.

Slavery is still around my boss made me work 12 hours at normal pay on a Saturday. If that ain't Slave labour then it's charity because it ain't normal!.

If your low income ...w/ gobs of bills .....may be better to work for board and room with no worries and stresses .....yes you'd know it ....but in all things are pros and cons ......
