Most long running bodies of fiction have rather rabid and irrational fans (trekkies, fundies from most any religion, harry potter fans, etc) somewhere along the line they forgot, its just a book, movie, show, etc, and started believing it was real, many mental illnesses can contribute to this disconnection from reality, and can lead to psychosis and paranoia as ones perception of reality becomes increasingly divergent from from the objective reality that many seem to believe is the real one. These problems are further exacerbated by leaders and government encouraging this kind of irrational behavior, as followers are much easier to control then free thinkers... IMHO we've been on the road to slavery since 'the meek shall inherit the earth'

Jesus sure did have a sense of humour ! That's right.

But people take Religion very serious because, preparing for your eternal life "is" very serious.
We need to take Gods word very seriously.

But that does not mean we shouldn't laugh and have fun along the way, Jesus wants us to enjoy life and have fun. especially taking enjoyment in His beautiful forests that He created. Look at the beauty around us, God created that for us to enjoy and appreciate.

I don't know. It was made in the 5th century as something for mankind to do and believe in. Remember, even back then, they had "Gods" that they worshiped and thought controlled the world and everything around it? They wanted a purpose in their lives, or at least an answer to it; explaining the everyday things or phenomenons that go on in nature.
