I have not seen a black movie that has four stars. Maybe I am wrong on that one. I have watched many blacks movies like boyz in the hood, Friday, Next Friday and Friday after next. These movie deals with black people and their culture but they all received lower ratings like one star or two. Than there movies that is about white people and their culture like the Titanic or the sound of music that has four stars. Who is in charge of rating movies and if so are there any black people on this committee that rates movies. Furthermore do you watch a movie based on their ratings and is this act a racism in Hollywood.

We, as a nation, seem to utter little about a national standard of values. I feel as though we are carving our values in jello. We see a pervasive lack of values, yet seem so uninspiried to do or really say much about. It begs the question: Who are we today?

I was up in Houston visiting a friend. He introduced me to a friend of his who was an astronaut and had been up on the Space Shuttle. His stories were unbelievably interesting.

Who is the most interesting "stranger" you have met and why?

Whatever you thought of America before Sept. 11, does it still hold now. Is the American Ideal that you grew up with still there?

Do you believe America is better or worse at living up to the Ideal set down in the Declaration of Independance and the Constitution then it was 25/50/100/200 years ago?

Explain why or why not.

(Now is the best time to think about these things--no election, no political debate, no news coverage attempting to sway opinion (of course they try to sway opinion, its how they keep customers), no national crisis, just life as it is on Christmas Eve.

No, seriously, why do these people become broken. We know many of them commit crimes, or get fat and ugly, or overdose, plus many of them are stupid. Rachel Ray is fat, Nicole Ricchie is in jail, and there are many others that are just not where they should be. Why do we even let these people become famous if this just keeps on happening. If we're goning to keep these people, I say we fix them, and pre-arrange their marriages to prevent them from getting divorced all the time. These people need serious help: mental, emotional, and physical from all of these temporary mariages, eating disorders, false religions (scientology, kabbalah) spoiled lifestyles, and drug abuse we keep on hearing so much about. No wonder why people view our country as depraved and wrong. If we're goning to fix our image, then we might as well fix our celebrities. Please suggest what we can do to help them. Let's call everybody and have them operateon each and every body part, like the machines they are.

My theories for anti-Americanism are:

1.Various government's deflecting attention away from their corruption and ineffectual leadership by rallying their brainwashed citizens behind a policy of "America's to blame for everything".This applies on a smaller level as well (lax gun laws in America=Toronto murders?)

2.Leftist ideology which believes that America is responsible for every conflict and human rights catastrophe in the world today no matter how irrational and contradictory those claims are.[ie. Darfur,Rwanda (inaction)-Iraq (intervention)]

3.Using America as a scapegoat is a bandwagon many people can't resist. It mask their ignorance of the major issues facing the world because it provides pre-packaged "cut-and-paste" answers for complicated matters they otherwise wouldn't understand.

4.Faux ultra-nationalism.

My husband and I are hardworking folks who by the grace of God are in of need very little.
We have performed random acts of kindness from time to time, but we have not been aware of many bestowed upon us until last night.
Two people we vaguely know knocked at the door and presented us with a holiday fruit basket. It wasn't much, just a small basket of mixed fruit and nuts.
Taken quite by surprise, we thanked the couple, placed the basket on the table next to the door and went back to our respective chairs to watch television.
My eyes kept going back to the fruit basket. What a kind, thoughtful thing to do. What had made those people give us a gift? It seemed strange that anyone would think of us. Didn't they have a party to attend or gifts to wrap?
Tears came into my eyes. Everyone is needy from time to time and this gift was a way to remind us that others do care.
Every gift, no matter how small, makes a huge impact on the recipient.
Suddenly my world seems much brighter!

Tony Robbins is no God- but i know a few people who have become highly impressioned by him. Because he draws crowds of thousands to him, people listen and live by his 'guided' way. When I gave the same advice to my friend, he ignored me- now he can't stop repeating what Tony Robbins said at the seminar- I'm saying- 'That's what i told you years ago!' Anyone found that alot of people will listen to a nobody in their lives before they see the light?

Just posed a question to 50 + women . . . sorry guys . . . to all of us on this side of 50 . . . what's your thoughts of being in this ' club ' and being on this side of 50. I just celebrated my 50th this past Autumn and personally . . . I find it to be great. To have lifes experiences combined with a bright attitude with life . . . how great is that ! ! ! Experience as itself is valuing, a bright attitude with life is to be embraced . . . yet to have the two combined as only can be when at 50 + . . . and to my elders...I know I'm just a kid (smiles). Positive or negative...bring on any rain...I'm thirsty anyway.
