Yes we CAN do something! It starts at home. We need to teach our kids how to resolve problems without violence. Parents need to get involved. And if you're the type of parent that lets your child runaround in the streets late at night...or with the "wrong crowd" and you just doesnt give a crap whether your child has weapons and turns to violence, then you shouldnt be having kids in the first place.
There is so much out there to show our children, so many positive things. Why are we showing them violence?? Why are we arguying infront of them? By hitting them we are only showing them that it is ok to hit others. And yes we can do something about this. But we all have to put our part into this so that the next generation can live in peace.
May they all RIP

The violence in Hip-Hop reflects the violence in our culture as a whole. Tupac once said that the Gang activity they (the Hip-Hop community) display is only learned by the violence of the gangs in our CIA, FBI, Local Police Brutality, US Army Covert OP's in other countries, DEA - thay are all organized and legal gangs.
Yes the violence needs to stop but it needs to stop on ALL levels. Don't just target Hip-Hop, look at the many school shootings in white upper-middle class communitues. that also needs to stop. Here is a link to my favorite article titled, "SHOOL SHOOTINGS AND WHITE DENIAL".

Also here is an article about the timeline of school shootings in upper/middle class communities:

Not to mention the violence of Bush's war on Iraq. The only people that our US Marines are killing are civilians, people like you and me.
Don't get me wrong, I support the troops - having been a Army veteran myself. However our troops are given poor orders from our Commander in Chief. When I pledged my life to serve in the military, I was bound to uphold the laws outlined in the Geneva Convention. George Bush has made it very plain that has sworn to defy the Geneva Coventions laws, UN Laws, the US Constitutions Rights & Amendements, etc. Here is a Link about the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War:

Sorry, I tend to digress... Basically, if our country doesn't stop violence abroad, then they will not stop violence here at home. The violence in Hip-Hop did not start within Hip-Hop. There are many other musical Hip-Hop art forms that are non-violent, e.g Hip-Hop Jazz, Hip-Hip Gospel, Hip-Hop Disney music, etc
Peace

Artists first will have to change and then
the multibillion $ recording industry will have to say, they won't publish the content.
You'll have better luck with the artists, I bet.
As fans you can not buy them and write to both artist and label telling why.

Please do nothing! Let them continue destroying themslves until they are all gone and buried deep. The sooner hip hop and rap can be thrown in the trash for good, the better society will be.

It's not the violence that's destroying that crap.....it's maturity.

Well, that is something that the artists themselves will have to stop. They will have to stop this ridiculous behavior of "gangsterism".
