(this is for a school publication, so keep it as clean as possible. Thanks.)

I'm 20 years old and this is my junior year in college majoring in Economics. Yesterday I went to the bank to withdraw $200 because i needed it for school. The lady at the bank told me that i need my parents authorization to do so.

Another time, the laundry machines in my apartment complex were broken, several people called said we need our laundry machines fixed but nobody came to fix it. Then finally our parents got involved and the people came to fix it the next day.

Why does society expect us to behave like adults, yet still treat us like we are teenagers?

I am a 34 year old Australian female living in Scotland and I have that restless feeling. I have £1500 in savings and no commitments. I have been living in Edinburgh for a year and a half now, and although beautiful and dripping in history and beauty, I'm over the weather, bored with my office job, and in need of a life changing experience. I don't want one or two weeks. I want a substantial experience.

I would like to think I am completely independent but I must admit that at the end of the day I am a tad "girly" in that I'm not sure I could navigate the Amazon on my own, so keep that in mind when you answer. And obviously I don't have a money tree to pluck from at my leisure...

With that being said, I am not averse to adventure and would be willing to push my comfort boundaries somewhat. I am very open minded, willing to immerse myself in a new culture and would like to feel as though I have made my mark on the world.

Im an American, and i was a little bit curious, so i checked out Yahoo! UK and Ireland, and boy was i surprised at what i found. There were so many questions that were insulting to America and the people of America. People ranted on for paragraphs about how horrible we were, questioned our intelligence and values as a nation. It pissed me off how people simply generalized an entire nation with a stereotype, and evry1 else seemed to agree with it. I found it a little bit disturbing...and i needed to ask people what they thought.
Are they angry becuase of a lack of accurate information? They all seemed to believe that we were war hungry or something...when more than half the population doesn't support the War. Do they know that many of the american people do not support Bush or what he's doing?
I just want to know why someone an ocean away hates ME when i don't know them, and I haven't done anything wrong. Why am i being blamed for things that a leader i don't aproove has done?

i mean i personaly think its the stupidest thing ever. -
im black so i must be on welfare, im asian so i must be super smart, i wear black so i must be goth, im punk/emo so i must cut my wrists, im oriental so i must drive bad, im arab so i must be a terrorist, im gay so i must have aids, im overweight so i must have no self control, im blond so i must be a ditz, im ritch so i must a conseded snob, im young so i must be naive

whats worse is that some people will hate to be steriotyped apun but do the same thing to others!
like i see this alot at school: lets call this blond prep at my school, 'sally' (just cause i stink at names and thats the first that came to mind) well she got very mad because somebody called her a ditz and stupid because shes blonde. so i thought 'maybe shes not as bad as i thought' but then the next day she called ME a cutter freak because i happend to be wearing black and a cool new wristband. (im NOT a cutter btw.) so im just really pissed.
