Im an American, and i was a little bit curious, so i checked out Yahoo! UK and Ireland, and boy was i surprised at what i found. There were so many questions that were insulting to America and the people of America. People ranted on for paragraphs about how horrible we were, questioned our intelligence and values as a nation. It pissed me off how people simply generalized an entire nation with a stereotype, and evry1 else seemed to agree with it. I found it a little bit disturbing...and i needed to ask people what they thought.
Are they angry becuase of a lack of accurate information? They all seemed to believe that we were war hungry or something...when more than half the population doesn't support the War. Do they know that many of the american people do not support Bush or what he's doing?
I just want to know why someone an ocean away hates ME when i don't know them, and I haven't done anything wrong. Why am i being blamed for things that a leader i don't aproove has done?

Thanks for the feedback, but i don't know where you guys have been if you haven't seen any questions about Americans, such as "Why are Americans such assholes?" and "Why does America suck?" And i never said that i didn't like Europeans or anything, and sorry if i came off that way...but just type in Americans on the search for questions bar, and you'll see what i mean...

I don't know what you were reading but i've never seen anything like this. I don't mind American people, but it is slightly annoying when American users ask questions on the British Answers, concerning stuff going on in the US.

Yes it is frustrating. I am a Brit living in the USA for the past four years now, and incidently, I don't hate American's, I am in fact married to one.
But yes, there are many negative stereotypes about American's and some Europeans resent how they appear to be forcing their culture upon the rest of the world....using the war on terror as one means of doing so.
I can assure you that no-one hates you personally. If you went to England or the UK most people would react very positively to you. Many Brits and Europeans love Americans. But, you know, there are always going to be ill informed people out there and all we can try to do is to re-educate them.
Please don't feel too angry though. I can assure you that these people are a minority.
And it does work both ways. As a Brit in America most people, nearly every person reacts positively to me. I love American's, they are so straight forward and what you see is what you get. Very friendly and open. But I have had my fair share of 'stupid' questions and stereotypes (of which I had never heard of before) thrown at me. Why to Brits have bad teeth? erm, I don't have bad teeth, I've never heard such a thing. I was even asked before what language do we speak in England?! There are many more examples, I could go on all day.
But please remember, no-one hates you personally, most Brits don't hate America, they are just ill informed and insular like many nations are, are uphold their identity by knocking others.
Unfortunately many people do not want to be re-educated though, so don't waste your time with the extra ignorant out there.
Please don't become 'anti-British' because you read a few stupid people's blogs!
I am sorry they hurt your feelings!

Maybe it not the fault of the Americans - it could be that the UK population is so fed up with Tony Blair following everything George Bush does that makes them appear to be anti American?
Mind you though - I am a British citizen and when on a British ship visiting the USA (Galveston) we (The crew) were kept prisoner on the ship by the US authorities, and not even allowed down the gagway to use the telephone. No shore leave was allowed for our entire time in port. Why? Anti terrorism or just plain old Americanism. I do not mind Ameicans (As people) in any way, but the country is so screwed up that maybe world opinion is right?

PS - I haven't seen any anti-americanism on Yahoo UK either.

I am British married to an American so please don't tar us all with the same brush.
I don't know what you have been reading but I have never seen the hatred you mention. There are a lot of people in America who hate British people too but I think the percentage is even matched.
I live in the UK with my husband, he left the US because of the government. No one is blaming you for what is going on, I just blame the people who voted for him. There are some Americans who can't see further than the end of their noses over this business with Iraq, they all live in denial and think this war is a good thing, just because others believe in it. The British government are just as bad I have to add.

I'm French, and I sometimes wonder why some Americans think that French people stink (and are all arrogant, etc.)! That's just ignorance. Don't worry about it. But I have to agree that it's quite annoying. People often do that: they tend to generalize.

That being said, I thought that all the questions that were asked on Yahoo! UK and Ireland were on the American version as well, and I've never seen what you're talking about on the American Y! Answers... Never mind.

Have not seen such info either. Nobody hates you in particular....why take it so personally.
If comments are made they are often made against Blair as well as Bush.
Have to admit that sometimes....not all times.....some of the Americans who come as visitors can be a bit rude and arrogant. Please and thankyous missing. But like I say not all.

I do not hate you or any American, I hate no one, I have never met you, never been lucky enough to get to America yet, so why would I be nasty about your country or you, yes there are some people who will pull anyone or any country to pieces, but please don't judge us all as the same, I treat as I find and don't make assumptions about anyone or anything until I have met them or seen the place, be happy and lucky and be yourself always.
