I'm 20 years old and this is my junior year in college majoring in Economics. Yesterday I went to the bank to withdraw $200 because i needed it for school. The lady at the bank told me that i need my parents authorization to do so.

Another time, the laundry machines in my apartment complex were broken, several people called said we need our laundry machines fixed but nobody came to fix it. Then finally our parents got involved and the people came to fix it the next day.

Why does society expect us to behave like adults, yet still treat us like we are teenagers?

Oh how I long for the days when I was treated like a teenager! Believe it or not some day you will look back on this as the good old days. Life was sweet when I got carded at the bar! Enjoy it while it lasts! By the way you sound very mature for 20 so I can understand why it frustrates you. This too will pass.

When society perceives you as an adult, they will treat you like a adult.
Perception is fickle:
Southerners are considered racist-
Blacks are considered criminals-
Middle Easterners are considered terrorist-
North Easterners are considered gay or at least bi-sexual-
Christians are considered bigots-
Veterans are considered murderers and rapist-
Your time will come, then you can mis-behave like other adults.
