taking.. Here's the deal--it has to be a critical paper...discussing the failures and negative characteristics of this hero...so that my teacher can point out to me how to say negative things about people in chinese in a more sublte manner. Does anyone know anything about Norman Bethune...I have heard rumours that he was a womanizer and an alcoholic...does anybody else know any dirt?

I've been at this office for 6 years. It's multi national and I'm a Brit. Its based in Germany. The problem is that the Germans aren't very friendly. Well, some are, mainly the managers or the people from other departments, but within my office all the Germans seem to ignore me. I think that basically there's a group that don't like the fact that after 6 years I don't speak German with them. This may or may not be the case.

What I want to know is what should I do about it? I don't really want to be friends outside of work with anyone - just to have a bit of courtesy within the workplace.

What to do?

Thanks

I know times have changed. Women have to work etc. But all these crime shows on TV etc. show women who deal with horrific crimes that ladies 50 years ago would have fainted dead away at even reading about them! I still feel a BIT like a woman who would like to be shielded and looked after, are you all REALLY so tough and hard?

Everone I know here drinks. Always challenging me to drinking contests and games. I don't want to be rude, and have refused on numerous occasions, but I seem I can't control myself. I can still teach and do my job, but I feel lonely, hence, I think it is a source to my drinking habits. I'd appreciate some advice. There, and on smoking too. Thanks.

all yahoo is, is a breeding ground for radical liberals and id like to open an account elsewhere. not really familiar with others cause ive been with yahoo for years so some input from actual users of other providers would help. i hope yahoo knows that they suck and im sure more and more people will follow suit. but sadly, they will most likely violate me on this because it does not conform to liberal ideals such as their own. i guess i'd better behave or i might get another threatining e-mail from yahoo admin. i take back any bad thing ive said about this sad attempt at a website

The new laws came out recently for children employed in India, you cannot employ anyone under the age of 14 anymore, and they have to be in schools.

The law in itself though very clear makes a mockery of the government who passed the law.

1.Where are the schools for the millions of children now on the streets?
2.For the homeless and orphans, what facilities are there?
3.Most of the children working were providing additional income to their poor parents
4.Should the governments in the third world countries listen to the cries of the first world countries?
5.In the first world countries you see the young boys vandalizing properties, stealing and causing human misery for ordinary citizens.
6.Children in India are occupied making a living and have no time to go around doing what their counterparts do in the first world countries.
7.Supposing the government is able to find schools and teachers for these children, what about their other day to day expenses and what about their families who depended on their income?
8.Again supposing all the children went to school and qualified, where will the government find employment for them, with millions being born and after the limited job market and only those with very high qualification can be absorbed into that.
9.Having studied, to what ever level, will these children accept any jobs, or fight for jobs more suited to their education.

Having looked at all the above points, will the children having got their diplomas and degrees become like people in UK and USA etc, living on the government handouts. At least in those countries you have unemployment benefit schemes, does or can India afford that. So what will happen to these “men” Now, that’s any bodies guess.
