I own the minutes of my life...hence I do not own one
99.99% of whatever it is people talk about on the cell phone is not that important
Just another excuse to work more so that you can have money to pay for another something you don't really need.

Why have a land line when it costs the same to have a cell phone?

Are land lines just a fad or do people really think they need them?

No, cell phones are NO LONGER just a fad. Payphones are getting to be extinct, and people need a form of communications when they are not at home, or at the office, where a regular land line is available.

I personally couldn't care less about owning a cell phone. In my opinion cell phones are dangerous to your health, but on the flip side having a cell phone is good if you're stranded in traffic & need to call your boss to tell them you're going to be late for work. Or if you get a car accident & have no access to a pay phone.

I use my cell phone as my regular phone. I don't have a land line at my apartment. I live in Rhode Island and my family lives on the other side of the country so I have my cell so I can talk to them for free because they have Cingular too!

My cell phone comes in awfully handy when my car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, or if I get lost, or if something happens in my family and I'm not near any other phone. I'm in my car a LOT, and the cell phone helps immensely in those situations. So yeah, I AM that important, that I don't want to waste my time and wait around for someone to find me if I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere. My family is that important too.

It is an important tool. Even in (in your prospective) the most unimportant of families, it is useful. Communication with family members, friends etc is important to them. The phones are a safety tool, business tool, keeping track of your children tool, No it is not a fad.

Cell phones are good for emergencies. Like your car breaking down. It is a great way to get ahold of someone when they aren't at home. They are starting to replace home phones too.

These days it is just smart to have a cell phone. Cars break down, people get lost, emergencies happen.

I feel very vulnerable without having my phone. It is a must if you have kids. Gotta keep track of them at all times.
