Is it "A penny saved is a penny earned" or "You can't take it with you (when you die)." What influences your philosophy on money?

i used to live in a big cosmopolitan city in S.E florida. one night, i stopped by a gas station for some cigarettes on the way home (in down town area) . it was about 3-4 am on a saturday night. as i was leaving the small market heading to my car, i was approached by a homeless man. an old black guy with grey curly hair and a long beard. first, i offered him some cigarettes...he refused!. then, i offered some money...refused again!. finally, he said "al salamo alaikom brother", then he called me by my name!!!! then, he walked away...I WAS SHOCKED OFCOURSE. how on earth did he know my name and that am an arab; eventhought i do not look like one what so ever; plus, that city is full of hispanics and europeans. even people from my own country wouldnt think am an arab!!! this little strange incident still does not make any sense to me. maybe coz i dont believe in anything supernatural or anything beyond our own human comprehension. any explanation?

thanks.

"It is research that is guaranteed to delight men - and infuriate the women in their lives. A controversial new study has claimed that men really are more intelligent than women.

The study - carried out by a man - concluded that men's IQs are almost four points higher than women's."

straight Men : strong, wilde, less sensitive, aggressive, stubborn, sexist, passive, sexual, ...etc. sure some women have those qualities too, but we are talking about men and only men right now!

i was listening to the radio and the men were complaining that when they are "friends" w/ female coworkers, they become labelled as "Gay" if they listen to problems and give advice. but because they are so bothered by that label, the talk show host said "if ur not attracted to her, be mean to her to stop her from talking to u...?" but why should men "be rude" to show their masculinity.... does that make sense to u?

how does Being Rude = Taking charge of masculinity? i understand why being labelled as gay is not appropriate, but being someone's friend usually means listening and giving advice, being someone worthy of leaning on. i think this adds to why a lot of women feel that men are "pigs" instead of being able to Respect him as a Man... what do u think?

It's been nine months now since My Steve committed suicide and I have been living alone. I've come to terms with my memory of Steve, but I'm feeling of two minds about living alone. Help me remember what the good things are.

Starting the new term at university I am going to be president of my sports club. I didn't run for the position in fact i ran for secretary but the person elected president is not returning to Uni next year. It isn't a very large club but term is about 4 weeks away and already people are phoning and emailing me about things, particulary the outgoing president. I'm finding it difficult to get started so early and am trying to tell them to wait until term starts.

I would really appreciate anyone's thoughts on how to handle things or what would make the year manageable from this position.
