i used to live in a big cosmopolitan city in S.E florida. one night, i stopped by a gas station for some cigarettes on the way home (in down town area) . it was about 3-4 am on a saturday night. as i was leaving the small market heading to my car, i was approached by a homeless man. an old black guy with grey curly hair and a long beard. first, i offered him some cigarettes...he refused!. then, i offered some money...refused again!. finally, he said "al salamo alaikom brother", then he called me by my name!!!! then, he walked away...I WAS SHOCKED OFCOURSE. how on earth did he know my name and that am an arab; eventhought i do not look like one what so ever; plus, that city is full of hispanics and europeans. even people from my own country wouldnt think am an arab!!! this little strange incident still does not make any sense to me. maybe coz i dont believe in anything supernatural or anything beyond our own human comprehension. any explanation?

thanks.

you offered some material comfort and support to him. as you do it to the least of these my brothers you do it also unto me. congratulations as you were blessed in a way many of us wish we were. don't ever think this wasn't a special encounter whether you believe in this sort of encounter or not. thanks for sharing.

I don't have the answer, but it reminded me of something I just read on a forum--see quote below. Of course, I can't verify it, but thought you'd be interested in someone else's similar experience.

"hey, this really happened..
I was on a very long walk (about 6 miles) . when I was at my farthest point from home I was preparing to turn around when a large, obviously homeless man across the street shouted out my birthdate, with the year, very loudly. I was shocked and it stopped me in my tracks to stare at him, but he didnt even look up.. just kept going. still freaks me a little to think of it."

Is your name a very common Arab name? Perhaps He recognized that you were of Arab decent, and it was just by coincidence that He guessed your name right!

Or, perhaps there is something supernatural after all. Even if you don't believe in it does not mean it doesn't exist. If that happened to me it would freak me out!

Well, I noticed that you call yourself Mo. Is it short for Mohammad? He may have been referring to the prophet, if thats the case.

Edit - Tweety, its arabic for "peace be with you."

It would be helpful if you could translate what he said.
