I consider success as maintaining a family to adulthood such that any children are reasonably well educated and can (or so they can in the future at say 21 years of age) support themselves as adults and make a positive contribution to society. In the case of people living alone, without children, success is maintaining a good lifestyle that enables a full and positive life without having to become a burden on society.

Success is relative, meaning different things to different people. Some people view success by monetary gain, others view success as raising good children.
In my opinion, I think success is each person's own personal idea of it. I think success for me is living my life the way I want it to be. Doing things in life that propel me to a higher ground. Success for me also involves me raising a well-rounded, happy, intelligent and creative child. Success is also finding beauty in the simple things of life, things that get overlooked in our everyday hustle for personal gain.
I don't know, that's just me.
