It seems that if you like Star Trek, or Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings, you are setting yourself up to be labelled as a nerd or a geek. It doesn't seem to matter what job you do, how much sport you play or what social circles you move it- tell someone you like sci-fi or fantasy stuff like Buffy and you're immediately labelled as a socially inept nerd who smells funny.

Why does such a false sterotype still exist?

Arabs are camel Jockeys. English drink tea and wear bowler hats. French people are amorous garlic eaters. Irish are happy go.lucky or fightingly drunk, Scots and Welsh similar. Italians equals pasta, pizza mandolina.

All of the countries mentioned have industries selling socks baseball caps fridgmagnets and assorted **** to 50 something american "doing europe" in a week. And yes, this is primarily aimed at gullible obese (sorry but these people are frequently massive!)50 somethings. The flavour these people get (and seem to want) is to culture what McDonalds is to food- fast, cheap and fabricated - not sure if McDonalds is as easily digestible, but you get the picture.

Some Americans have told me that it is mostly the fat and thick ones that get the opportunity to travel, and that others are too busy working two jobs, looking after kids etc.

The anti-americanism worldwide (and I have to say I have friends in NY, Berkley and Ohio ) is based on thinking that the aforementio

When I was in the Army, that's all I ever heard. Like the time the W.A.C. barracks was on fire and I went to help the ladies in uniform and....well,....I....and that cute little private first class...anyway....I remember an M.P. coming by and saying that famous phrase...'Well, you must be from N.Y.'

I just watched bad lads where a number of petty criminals are thrown back in 1950s style national service in Britain, eventually this regime reveals the fact that all the "criminals" are just deep down normal people with just a few problems..eg.sploilt, communication problems, poor people skills, unable to express. The programme seems to sort them out and make decent fellas of them.

I'm Soon-2-B 21 in Sept. and I've been Homeless (Living in my Boyfriend's Van) now for 2 1/2 months, I was recently fired from my job, and as life seems to get better, it gets worse too! I don't know what I should do.. I tried going home to family, but they're way over-protective over me, and try to control my life too much, and I only know my BF in this area, what should I do?!!?? we r in the 21st century, yet racism still wAlks around us like centuries ago, atleast where i come from, wat the hell is the big issue? i think black men around the world are much cleaner, broad minded, sexier, richer(for those who mind)then the average 'light skinned guy' hell theyr also much better in bed!! all this aside they r human, n so m i! the only reasons iv heared to 'keep' me away from these 'black men' are that they r dirty, uncivilized and society will not accept etc, even if this was the case i think time has proven change in their behaviour, and **** society, im a true muslim and those reasons are not in the quran, i am so frustrated and pissed off, i really need to understand wher people come from with all this!!!

I am soon to be the single mother of an infant boy and a 2 1/2 yrold boy .I dont want to deny him the right to see his father,but his dad only wants to sell drugs to make money and blame everyone else for his problems.So what my question is , is this..whatare some helpful hints for raising boys?..how can i mold them into men who willl be accountable for themselves and treat others right?..anything you got will help..please ?
