I can relate to why people get upset about languages in another county. My parents immigrated and learned the lanugage and the ways of this country. I live in a community that now caters to other cultures, at the expense of our own. Street signs are printed in other languages to make it easier for new people coming to this country, Our elementary schools now stop having Christmas plays because it is not politically correct. I don;t want to feel like I am racist, but I am beginning to think I am heading that way. It is not the way I want to bring up my children. Sometimes multiculturism sucks.

I was at the video store and wanted to rent Broke Back Mountain. My husband refused to let me rent it.. I know what it is about, but what is his deal? I have heard a lot of men that refuse to watch this movie. But why then if this movie were about 2 women, then most men would watch it and have no problems?

I used Yahoo answer/question for the first time last week to solve a pc issue. I appreciate the information that I was able to find to resolve my problem without asking the question.
While reading, asking some questions and answers for several days now, would I be correct to assume that most people are under 40?. Are there older people out there beside a new comer like me? Let me know if you are out there.......thanks for answering my other questions (young or old, it was very helpful).

I've been stricken with a desire to understand more about this, though I'm not sure why. I'm looking for suggestions on good books, online resources- basically any extensive information. Deafness, muteness, limited mobility, etc. anything really, I just want to learn more. Any suggestions on where to look would be helpful. Thanks.

I joined a committee to raise money for the new YMCA that will be built in my town. The thing is, I have never done anything like this before. I don't even know that many people in my own community. I want to change that, and that's my reason for joining. I went to my first meeting tonight and it went o.k. but they want us to go door to door or have a neighborhood meeting to discuss donations w/our neighbors. I don't even know where to begin. How should I approach people? What should I wear? I'm nervous about it.

My family is blessed. We have survived more than our share of tragedy, but we have also survived many, many situations, where, rightfully, most of us should be dead. Every adult in my family (myself included) has survived a car wreck which totalled the car. Once, my brother was driving a rented boxtruck, and the gas can (full of gas) fell and was dragging on the pavement, no idea how long this lasted, but someone alerted my bro that his gas can was sparking like crazy down the highway. there was no trouble. he was also in a car wreck in which his head went through his windshield. He was also standing on the lawn of his house, when a car went out of control, crashed into a pole (or something like that) and a womans head literally rolled up to his feet. My mother was almost killed in a wreck @ 16 (she wasn't driving) my father survived 2 deadly crashes, and today, my mother was attacked by a rattlesnake, and amazingly enough, it bit into her boot, instead of her leg, the boot she almost
