I'd like to know what man's highest end is on this earth, in accordance to Greek philosophy. Preferably in relation to the concept of the play Oedipus Rex. Thanks!

Artemis wasn't originally the goddess of the moon, and according to a book I have, there was a merging of thei cults in ancient Greece because Selene-worshippers' numbers kept dwindling. When were the cults merged?

I was having a nightmare and this dark being/cloud was next to my bed draining the life from me. I tried to move, but I couldn't. I also had the impression that any light source would ward it off, but when I got my hand to touch the light switch, it didn't work. This is NOT my first encounter with something that looks like that, but I do not know what it is.

In the 1960's the rock & roll group, Fleetwood Mac had a popular song called "Hypnotized", I think it was...in it they sang about a strange place in North Carolina where there was a pond in the thick of a forest with no roads leading to it. It seems that the sides of the pond were like glass...and they sang, "And if any mans hands had made that land then I think it would have showed! Has any one heard of such a place or are these "just" lyrics written to sell a song? Genuine responces only, please.

I've been looking everywhere but can't find a recipe. All I know is that it probably has lemongrass or palmarosa in it.

I am interested in finding out how far and for how long the story of the "mirror ghost" Bloody Mary has been being passed around purely by word of mouth. Here is how I heard it: If you go into a dark room and stand in front of the mirror and chant "Bloody Mary" 3 times a cloaked figure will appear and cross through the mirror to get you.

Please tell me 1) How the version of the story you heard is different (if it is) 2) Where you first heard the story (country and city) and from what source 3) Your gender (since I have never found a male that has heard this story) and 4) The approximate year that you first heard the story.

I am especially interested to hear from people outside of the U.S. and to see if this is a story passed exclusively among girls!

Anyway, to start I will say that I first heard the story in Tri-Cities, Washington state. I am female and first heard from some girls at a sleepover in about 1990.

so i'm writing a novel
and i'm having a little trouble with the setting in terms of time and how advanced the world is in technology
i'm lookin for something similar to disney's tuck everlasting
or perhaps even earlier
the people are English and they still have their accents
and it's the days were they were a bit picky about courting
there's slavery as well
and there are pianos
the people are still very proper
