There are certain things which are counted as sacred in Hindu religion and mango and banana leave are one of them. While offering our prayer, which is called satyanarayan puja, it is a must that mango leaves should be one of the sacred thing. We draw a Rangoli outside our house to welcome our guests and off course God and mango leaves are part of it.

The leaves have capacity to supply oxygen even after separating from the mango tree it works like natural A/C

mango leaves are tied outside certain homes during festivals tat is becoz..
"Dhustankalai theerkum" means it is common belief tat mango leaves will absorb all the evil forces..

Mango symbolizes "welcoming". This is to welcome a god/rishi to our home we invite them by tying mango leaves.
