Ok, say she died at the end. How well has her character developed? Would readers think, "Oh no! She died!" or "Oh good! She died!"? What purpose would her death serve at the end? Would her boyfriend betray her or die too (a la Romeo and Juliet)? Another way of presenting the ending might be to *infer* that she's dead, where she could only be badly wounded but unconscious, but the reader is led to *believe* that she's dead. Also, take into consideration the fact that if the "strong enemy" survived after she "died", what would be his/her/its role in the events prior to that battle and those that followed? Since the enemy is strong, I would assume that she's had to develop some kind of inner strength or magical powers in order to help her in battle, so the fight itself would be more of an even balance. If she had become so "powerful" in order to face off against this "strong enemy", she might also be godlike in stature, so when the enemy strikes a "lucky blow" that ultimately kills her, the battle could resume because of her favour with the gods, who grant her another chance (as a demigod) to rid the world of this scourge.

As an alternative, and as a twist, during the battle, engage the "strong enemy" and the heroine in conversation. Why are they fighting? How are their emotions conveyed through the words they exchange? Do they really want to fight to the death or is there grounds for a compromise? It might be revealed that they can work things out and become "friends". Or...At the end, when they've shaken hands (so to speak), the "strong enemy" betrays her and stabs her in the back or something and she dies or it's inferred that she has died.

The "strong enemy" could drag the heroine into an alternative dimension, perhaps the Underworld from which the strong enemy originally emerged, when she dies. Another battle ensues, but this time there is no conclusion, as they continue fighting - equally matched - for a long time. (Again, leaving it open-ended.)

With an open-ended scenario, you could leave it up to the readers to decide what happens. Keep the reader captivated so that it will have an impact on them. You can also leave the doors open for sequels, if you're of a mind to write them. That way, too, you can develop the story even further if there are others in the "series".

These are suggestions only, as I wouldn't really know *how* to end the story without having read what you have so far. The snippet you've given isn't much to go on, it's like reading the beginning and jumping straight to the end, without knowing what's in the middle.

Okay, here goes...
She dies protecting those that she loves, and because of how much good she did, these supreme beings bring her back, but with powers unlike tha tof anyone else. Better to do it in a sequel, that way she is dead at the end, and then she comes back...say halfway through the second book. Problem is, she doesn't know why she's back, and she's got to regain her memories, so she goes on this long quest, and for some reason, she ends up dying again, but because of her powers, she is instantly brought back, but this time her memories return, and while she's dead, she finds out about a secret plot to destroy the Earth or whatever while she was dead.
That's about all I can come up with, sorry. It just popped into my head, and so I decided to say it. Hope that helps!

Let us say the "strong enemy" is the state...think 1984! Let us also say that she is running from this enemy because she has uncovered incriminating evidence of state sponsored domestic terrorism against the native populace. Her boyfriend is running too because he is the professor who fell in love with her and actually has the information...

The ending: She wakes up from a dream, finding herself under the ceiling lights of a white, padded room in a state mental facility, heavily under the influence of drugs for weeks, she has this one respite of consciousness and then the door opens and she sees men with needles; so that she may know before losing consciousness again that she is about to enter her nightmare forever...she doesn't know how long.

The end.

You know what, I'm sorry, you just wanted an ending didn't you!!

She falls down and hits her head on a rock. There.

Loving the vampire mythology potential I enter your tale with the pre-concieved theory that vampires are the two extra desirable and swifter than people with regenerative powers. This immediately places the people at a downside if the vamps have a solid hiding place for the period of the sunlight hours. additionally by way of fact vampires are so stable with longer existence spans their concepts of previous battles could be extra precise and for this reason permitting them to a million) one stay away from the comparable errors and 2) remembering their enemies weaknesses. I comprehend people may be the two blood thirsty and much extra ruthless and violent yet i think of in this tale you may evaluate using people that have some sort of part over effortless mortals. It would not must be extreme yet possibly there are warriors born just to combat the vampires and that they've some risk-free practices against them. in the top pehaps the conflict would be fought on standard soil and then contain uncomplicated adult men that could tip the scales the two by using giving the vamps a fertile grazing floor or by using having mankind now connect in the conflict.

The couples swapped souls.
The boy becomes the girl, and the girl becomes the boy. But they can't change their sexual preferences and have to be forced to break up. They turn gays afterwards but awkwardly appearing as straights.
They live confusingly happily ever after.
