In Bhagavad Gita, Krishna is called "Janardana". Swami Prabhupada translates this as "friend of all". Ernest Wood, also very credible, tanslates it as "liberator of men". Can you tell me what Janardana means literally, and a little bit about why it means what it does?

What kind of regional accent does Hugh Laurie have when he's speaking with an English accent like on Blackadder?

If I were to teach English in France would it be better to speak the Received Pronunciation accent or in an American accent or to alternate between both? I'm from America with English roots and I've listened to BBC World Service on the radio since when I was very little and can do a fairly good impression of them.

Are there any free online tests that can tell you approximately what grade level your reading/grammar/etc. is in Spanish? I've seen many that tell you "beginner, intermediate, advanced, etc." but do you know of any that tell you an actual grade level. It doesn't have to be super accurate, I'm just curious. Thanks:)

I learnt French in school for about 5 yrs, was pretty good at it.
however we were mostly taught grammar & written French not spoken French.
Will French knowledge help me in anyway, eg. for seeking employment or socially?
I f yes , do I have to pick up spoken French?

One my friends is of french decendance but she can't speak french because her family immigrated to Canada before she was born. Does that make her French, even though she has lost her culture ans her language?

I work in an office at a community college. Our office is very diverese with different cultures. The problem is that my supervisor told my co-worker and I that we are not allowed to speak spanish within the work place. I understand to a certain point where she is coming from, but I do not understand why it is only spanish that is being targeted. I have co-workers that are from Iran and they speak their language amongst themselves all the time within the office. Also, I there are a few Indonesian workers that speak their language as well within the office. I feel that if one language is not allowed then all the others that are not english shouldn't be allowed as well. Am i over exaggerating when it bothers me?

Oh and may I add that when a they need a person to translate from english to spanish I am the first person summoned to do the job...

so togther with my native English I can be trilingual. I want to learn Spanish and Arabic. I know this will be a challenge, but my question is will it be to hard to learn both at the same time? Spanish will be easy because I can already speak a little bit. And I deal with spanish speaking people at work all day. Arabic will be another story because I don't know anybody who speaks it and won't be able to speak it as often. Can somebody please give me some input.
