I've been hearing it a lot lately and I'm just wondering what it really means. Is it from a movie or something? A song? Did someone just start saying it one day? Where did it start and such and such...

The Temple of the Sun is one of the most recognized ruins of Machu Picchu.
The Intihuatana Stone is used to measure the angle of the sun and shows when the solstices and equinoxes occur.
Located west of the main square, this sacred temple is known for its huge walls and three trapezoidal-shaped windows through which the sun's rays would pass illuminating the "Sacred Plaza" beyond.

In Larry king the show, Larry was talking with Steve Irwin's daughter and immediately he commented on her accent. In my opinion there was nothing wrong with how she spoke, she was a great kid. I don't see the reason why Larry would make a comment on her voice.

Another example, In Loveline the radio show, Dr. Drew received a phone call from a guy and just because he didn't speak like your typical White guy frm america, he askd "are you hispanic?" and he wasn't even latin. He was American with Italian roots.

In American idol, there was this girl from Colombia, and she got a bit criticized just because she didn't sppeak exactly like White americans. But guess what, she had a near perfect White american's accent... but whatever who cares. she spoke great.
And simon said "ohhh... you're gonna have Trouble with song selection because of your accent"

All the people i described above had great voicees, they knew English well.. and still they get criticized.

i want to listen to podcasts to improve listening comprehension. I'm not looking for podcasts that teach you the basics of Japanese. I have already studied enough, now i want to listen to real everyday Japanese. And podcasts would be a great idea.

podcasts that would be of interests to me are within these topics:
-technology
-news reports
-comedy
-podcasts that discuss social issues

and by the way, i need podcasts that are in talk radio kind of format.

Thanks

Do you know any good Latin sayings (w/ translation)? I need something humerous like "What part of I'm smarter than you do you not understand" or something like that to put on a t-shirt.

Does anyone know the correct lyrics to the Happy Birthday song in Danish? I know it starts "I dag er dine fodselsden, hurra hurra hurra" but I'm lost after that. You think I'd know the words the amount of times I've heard it but no such luck. Any help or links to webpages would be greatly appreciated.

Tak skal du have, and thanks very much!

I live in France with my husband and three children. The children all go to school and their French is improving all the time, mine however is lousy. I cannot get the hang of it and as it is winter all the locals have gone into hibernation mode. Finances are very tight right now so lessons are not an option. Please can you help me, I am very happy to help out with English if you need it and will endeavour to work as hard as I can to fit into my adopted country. Thank you all, in anticipation.......There is a question in there somewhere!!
