What does gaudiamus igot ators mean? It is in the song Bright College Days by Tom Lehrer.

I don't know the song, but I think the line is "Gaudeamus Igitur," which means "Therefore let us rejoice." ("igitur"=therefore, "gaudeamus"=first person plural subjunctive of "gaudere", to rejoice).

for more information on the original song I think Lehrer's song is referring to. It was a drinking song among collegiates in days past (back when college students had to know Latin).

BTW, "De Brevitate Vitae" means "On the shortness of life" and is itself a joke because many old writers composed philosophical essays with titles very much like that: e.g. Cicero's "De Amiticia", On Friendship, and Augustine's "De Civitate Dei", On the City of God.
