For example, car, in French "la voiture" (female), in Spanish, "el coche" (male) and in German "das Auto"(neutral). Who decides the gender of a new word?

I was curious because I've always thought it sounded bland... but maybe that's because I grew up around it. It's just that other accents always seem to have more... personality, more of a lilt to them. Irish accents are melodious & easy on the ear, and British accents seem more light and refined, Australian accents are fun and bold... How does the American accent come off, and which variation of the accent sounds the best (meaning, a southern accent, Bostonian, New Yorker, etc.) to people who aren't used to hearing an American accent all the time? Thanks :o)

For example, on the back of recent calls for the banning of smoking in public places, some people have used the "next they'll be stopping people from drinking, eating bad food, talking to each other..." argument to make the initial idea sound stupid.

So what's it called when you do that?

Sometimes a see a letter that looks like u when an accent mark on it.
I have seen this kαληνuχτα or could it be spelled as καληνχτε?
In the first version of the word, there is an accent mark above the "u". Could that be a typo?

26 male. quiet, shy, no friends. My vocabulary is pretty limited. I've been trying to learn words but its difficult since just learning them out of a book, will not give me the whole picture on their usage.

Also, even though i'm a quiet person , I talk at times with people. But i tend to use the same basic vocabulary that i have and fail to come up with words i've learned recently. Either i can't remember them, or i feel uneasy using words which i don't even know how to use. It's even more embarrasing since i'm a pretty old person and people my age are usually mature at this age with no major problems in their speaking skills.

what kind of things can i do to effectively retain vocabulary and learn to use it correctly, even though i have no friends to talk to?
