What do you as a parent spend on EACH kid altogether for Christmas gifts?

Dear brothers & sisters,

I have different views on:-

1. Music. I say, ok with limitations.

2. Hijab. I say encouraged, not compulsory.

3. Riba. I say Haram.

But lending money/currency is permitted, at higher Price /Real Value depending on the durations.

Example: Both parties agreed to lend/borrow a '2 year money' at price/value of USD110. On the day of agreement, The akad takes place and the lender give a currency/piece of paper that has a non-significant-printed-Nominal Value-of-USD100 to the borrower.

I say the transaction is NOT riba. It is HALAL.


I pay zakat, I pray, I respect others, do welfare & charity, put all my effort for the best of my family, relatives & the ummah.

Would I be cast into hellfire for those different views on interpretations & understanding of Quranic messages compared to your good selves & your respected imams?

Are you keen to pray the the five prayers at "Masjid" ??!!

**as for me, my father, Hamdulliah, is so keen to pray them at Masjid...........and sometimes, during Fajr prayers, if he's not able to wake up -because of being tired from job- we insist to wake him up, and pray there, so he won't miss such "reward"/ "Thawaab" :-)

My wish is that my future Hubby inshaa Allah is keen to pray them at Masjid :-)

btw, are you girls also keen that your parent or husband go to pray at Masjid ??!!

Well I'm 15, and I have 2 brothers, (25 &28) and 2 sisters (17&26) I was thinking of a Christmas gift for my parents, and I was wondering if maybe they would like a picture of all of us? A professional one. I was thinking maybe we could all chip in to get it done. And since it would be all of us buying, it wouldn't cost much at all, and we could still each get an individual gift. If you were a parent would you like that? I was thinking that or having us all chip in for a little vacation for them. Maybe a cruise or something. We never really go on vacation often. Last timr we went i think I was 12. It was to some cabin in Vermont. So I figured they'd like going somewhere :) So if you were a parent, would you like either of those ideas?

im not a christian but im taking up the responsibilty of decorating by work place for xmas.

I am Black. I need folks to understand that "Kwanzaa" is something made up by an ex-con as part of his scheme to have something to talk about on tour. It is NOT a real holiday. Why are black folk getting hoodwinked into embracing this? And why does Hallmark make "Happy Kwanzaa" cards??

My daughter in law has informed me that she is Having Thanksgiving dinner and that she is just inviting HER side of the family, we are not invited apparently. She wants me to have our family dinner on Saturday so they can come to my house. My one son is in College and working and can only be home on Thanksgiving day so..If I agree to this I will have to make 2 Thanksgiving dinners ...I feel really put out by this but origianlly agreed to it. Now I am having second thoughts and think I will just have my Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving day and celabrate with my College age son and oldest son and family. I guess I would like to know what you all think...I don't want to be considered rude , but then again its HER rudeness that has caused this problem. Am I right?

Did you all notice something unusual and funny going on here? I came to answer and discovered this. After the Holiday is over, at one time in a day, some new Asker asks some Q and immediately marks a Best Answer, also to another New entrant.
Questions are vague.
Like exactly 11 hours earlier, there is a Q and immediately, a best Ans. No time given to others to reply. And some 10 Q this way.
Have you any idea what exactly is happening here?

i have to make a project for my 'economics' course and i want to avail this oppertunity to spread the word of Allah and want to tell people about interest and why it is haram.i have researched from various books Alhamdolillah,and i want you people to contribute to this,remember your contribution will be rewarded by Allah.

i want more info regarding various logical reasons islam and ulemas have given to tell why interest is haram.please share the information or its link.

i also want some info regarding those fatwas that try to spread this misconception among the muslims that it is impossible to stay away from interest in this modern time so it is allowed for a muslim(Na'uzubillah)
