Well I'm 15, and I have 2 brothers, (25 &28) and 2 sisters (17&26) I was thinking of a Christmas gift for my parents, and I was wondering if maybe they would like a picture of all of us? A professional one. I was thinking maybe we could all chip in to get it done. And since it would be all of us buying, it wouldn't cost much at all, and we could still each get an individual gift. If you were a parent would you like that? I was thinking that or having us all chip in for a little vacation for them. Maybe a cruise or something. We never really go on vacation often. Last timr we went i think I was 12. It was to some cabin in Vermont. So I figured they'd like going somewhere :) So if you were a parent, would you like either of those ideas?

Anyone who says teens aren't thoughtful and loving to their families obviously hasn't met you! As a mom I have to admit I cried when I read what you are thinking of doing for your parents.
If I had to choose between time together as a family or a photo of my kids . . . that's tough. With the ages of your siblings I'd say the photo would be the easiest. As some have pointed out, schedules are difficult to work around for a trip together, though the idea is a great one. I also agree that a photo is great because it is something that can be enjoyed over and over again.
I hope your parents realize what an awsome kid they have! Good luck to you - and when the time comes - have a wonderful Christmas!

A picture is a great christmas gift. It is something that years from now, even after the memories of the vacation have faded, will still be memorable, Besides a "Family Vacation" always has lots of hassles (every one getting the time off, everyone wanting to go tot he same place etc... Not to mention being stuck with your family for x days) where as a family portrait is a moment where everything is right

That would be amazing for them! A picture of all of you would be so sweet to get. They probably don't have one of all of you guys grown up. If all 5 of you chip in for that and maybe a little trip to New York City (You said Vermont..so something on the east coast) for a weekend or something. If you can't afford the trip, still get the picture, but I think that giving just a little more money this year for them would be so sweet. They need a brake probably.

i'd actually love both ideas! the picture one is great. my mom and her brothers and sisters did that several years ago for my grandparents. they loved it! i also love the trip idea. once everyone grows up, it seems like the only time families really get together is during a holiday or during a death in the family. i think it would be a great idea to have a family vacation where everyone could just have fun with eachother and get away at the same time (especially the cruise).

Dont worry about the vacation -- the PHOTO of all the siblings TOGETHER would be well-loved by your PARENTS (I know this because I am a Long Term Single Parent Myself -- who is right now an Empty-Nesting Retiree).
And ... if you all just give them the GIFT of your time (and take them somewhere they may like to go -- it could even be that you take your mom to the mall and sit in the food court if that is what she wants to do) ... that would ALSO be very much appreciated.
Very thoughtful ...

Those are both great ideas.
Being a parent myself of two almost grown children, I can tell you the picture idea is my favorite. It would be a gift that would last forever and whenever your parents look at it they will feel, special that you took the time to have it taken. A picture of all your kids together is a treasure.
Very good thinking!
Good Luck with your gift!

I think getting a photo of all of the siblings is a lovely idea. My brothers & I did that for our parents 5 years ago, and my mom was so happy to have a photo of all of us for the first time in 13 years! Since at the time we were all fairly young, and not making a ton of money, we had the photos done in the mall & they came out really nice.

The picture would make your mom cry!! Great Idea!! You could even plan to have one set up and include them in the picture...like a big family pic!! Just tell them a time and date that they need to be ready, pick them up, and bring them to the photographer with everyone there!! (but make sure you tell them what to wear!!) A cruise is another awesome idea!!! My parents always wanted to do the Alaska one!!

Both sound great- your parents would be thrilled to get the photo, and a weekend getaway would be nice for them--since you are the youngest, but already 15, they should have no qualms about being gone, especially if one of the grown kids steps up to supervise while they are away.

Ye, chile. You must be the sweetest most thoughtful daughter ever. If they can't or won't help you chip in then do it yourself and just present it to your parents as if all of you did, don't let a good (great)idea go to waste for last of money.
