Canada and the USA share a border, but when I was across The Pond I found crossing the border from Canada into the USA was like crossing into a different universe.
I found Canadians to be quiet, reserved, polite, and worldly ... Americans were ... erm ... well, the exact opposite.
There is also a lot more "Britishness" to Canada (pubs, the food, street names, even the architecture), which I found comforting, but I'm sure this is due to Canada being a former member of the Empire.
By the way, this is not meant to be an anti-America post, I'm just wondering if anyone else wondered why these two seemingly similar countries are so very different in so many ways.
